Sounds like something might have gotten into the shifter mechanism. several things could get in there like the accordian strip around the shift handle, coffee or soda could be spilled in there,....ext. another possibilty is the shifter cable going bad . I'd disconnect the shifter cable from the tranny and see if it all moves free then, if not any better take apart the shifter itself and see whats making it hang-up.

if it is shifting from gear to gear automaticly hard or late, that would be an internal trans problem. best place to have trans tested and/or serviced would be the dealer because of the difficulty of the procedure. it requires being hooked up to a computer to monitor temp while car is in the air and level , then a fluid injecter is needed too.

My Audi 2003 A6 is stuck in neutral starts but don't move.

Is it a manual transmission or an automatic? If it's a manual (clutch pedal), then you've got a problem for the shop. If an automatic, it should shift into a forward gear or reverse whenever you depress the brake.

I have a 1999 Audi A6 quattro my right brake light went out I went to to switch the bulb and the bulb was OK but wont come on now I can't put my shift gear into gear without turning my lights on

There's should be a shift interlock that prevents it from being put into gear unless the brakes are on; check if the fuse it good for the brake lights; it seems to somehow be tied in with the parking lights, which may be feeding into the brake light circuit.

1999 Audi A6 gear shift not moving, even with break applied

The lock shift solenoid that works withe break pedal has gone bad... it's located next to or In front of the shifter.. on some vehicles. You have a key slot that you can use another key or small screw driver in it to unlock the shifter. Just replace that and it should be fine..

Brake lights stay on all time on audi a6 2004 model

The brake switch that is located just above the brake pedal is either out of adjustment and button is stuck on and you just need to move it around and put back in place. or the switch is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Audi Quattro A6 will not go into drive

It's the brake pedal switch. There is a switch down on the pedal arm that closes when you press the pedal down, and sends a sensing voltage to the controller, telling it the brakes are applied. This allows the transmission lock to disengage so you can shift out of Park. When that switch fails, the lock won't disengage. You need to replace that switch and you'll be fixed.
