THE OVERFLOWS BOILING BUT THE TEMP GAUGE IS NOT SHOWING RUNNING HOT. DO YOU THINK I NEED TO CHANGE THE THERMOSTAT I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT THE TOP OUTFLOW IS LEAKING?
If the radiator cap is not allowing the radiator to maintain proper pressure, the coolant will boil and overflow the bottle reservoir.
Check radiator pressure and replace the cap if the pressure drops.
Hope this helps.
If the thermostat is not opening, the engine will keep getting hotter as you drive. You could be low on coolant and have air pockets in the system which would cause the temp gauge to not be accurate. Is the radiator fan coming on when the tank is boiling ?

Could be bad thermostat, but unusual. If the engine isnt getting warm enough, thats where I would start.
