Intermittently the car will not start. It acts like it is starving for gas, yet the tank is full. Any ideas

Sometimes if I click i just click the starter, you know turn the keys on for a hot second then off, it will catch and start. If I wait for an hour or two it will start. Any ideas?

Thank you for your suggestions, I have already replaced the starter, the starter celonoid, the relay, the fuel filter and the alternator and battery. The fuel pressure is reading correct. I guess the starter is the only thing left. I just don't understand why it is itermittent like this.

SOURCE: car wont start! has full tank of gas, battery is fine!

Ensure that your fuel pump is okay. You might need to make a change on that cos that will definately be the cause.

SOURCE: my 1999 dodge intepid all of a sudden quit

Hi I am Vortash yes it could be a fuel pump problem , but equally it could be cam sensor or ECU or low compression etc my advice to you if you are not mechanically minded is to have it Krypton tuned . This will not only tell you if there is something wrong but may be able to cure it in one go ?. Regards Vortash

Fuel tank half full. Why is 'low fuel' light on?

is it 2.5 or 3.0 ltr petrol? if so it is fitted with saddle type fuel tank which passes over the propshaft and has 2 fuel level sensors one each side and a jet pump to transfer fuel from one side to the other, sounds like you have problem inside the fuel tank the main fuel pump side of the tank may be drying out. rh side of tank i think. hope this helps/

My club car gas golf cart was running good then al the sudden wont go over idle speed

Perhaps it's a stuck carburetor float valve, bad fuel pump (if it has one) or clogged fuel filter.

2003 isuzu rodeo idling very rough and stalling intermittently. seems to improve with full gas tank and worsen when nearing empty. recent replaced fuel pump and fuel filter, problem persists

sounds like you have water in the fuel, put in a some dry gas and let it sit over night then drive it the next day to see if it improves

I have fuel in gas tank-after shutting off will not start unless I put gas into fuel tank. Is it a fuel filter issue. or?

Just a question. Do you run your car on empty. If so that could be your problem with an empty tank you are sucking all the dirt through the filter and making it plug up. It is better to keep your tank above half full and does not cost any more than to run on empty. All mechanics will tell you to always keep your tank above half full.

Acts like it is starving for fuel changed fuel filter serveral times it will sometimes run good for 10 miles

It could be the fuel pump, not the fuel filter.

The fuel pump is usually located inside of the gas tank.

Hope this helps!

Truck acts like it is running out of gas? Replaced fuel filter. Ran fine for awhile but now still acts like it is starving for fuel.

my '93 f-250 (4.9L) stopped running while driving, now it acts like it isn't getting any fuel. Tried switching tanks, but still does the same. What would be the problem.

I left my 1996 gmc seirra 1500 sit real low on gas,And now sometimes it will start and sometimes it will not, when it does it cranks for a while now it wont start it acts like it is starving for gas when it...

I don't know how long you let it sit or what climate you are located in so.... From what you said I would guess you have had water condensation in the tank. I would change the fuel filter, fill the tank with fresh fuel and add a container of "water remover" to the tank. If water is the problem this will allow the water to be mixed with the fuel in a very small percentage and burn it along with the fuel. Full or almost full tanks do not condense water. Empty or almost empty tanks do when allowed to sit for a while.

My truck acts like it is starving for gas

You need to check spark plugs/wires/distributor cap.
Also good idea to check/replace fuel filter/air filter. It might be also bad fuel pump.
Good Luck
