Actually with a TIMING CHAIN, there is not a recommended time for a change. RUBBER TIMING BELTS wear. Chains don't wear normally for easily 100K miles. They will have a tendency to stretch as they age. Your Silverado has TIMING CHAIN. sorry for all the caps

Does not require this service, as the motor has no timing belt, it is a maintenance free timing chain.

There is no cabin air filter on that vehicle.
RPM gages are an option and may or may not be present.
The engine is a 4 cylinder and most 4 cylinder engines have BELTS,

Does the 2000 silverado v8 have a timing chain and if so at what milage should it be replaced

yes the silverado's have timing chains, just about all v6's and v8's have timing chains, and timing chains should not be serviced, unless you are having problems with a timing chain guide or timing chain tensioner

When is the recommended change for a timing belt change?

Ok, first, GM uses a timing chain in its engines, which goes much longer than a belt. With the timing chain, you don't have to worry about changing it until you're having to worry about overhauling the engine. Some people will try to sell you additional shop work, but it's not necessary. These are known to go for more than 400,000 miles with no problems if the engine lasts that long, but are always changed when the engine is rebuilt or overhauled. I currently own a silverado with 120,000 miles on the original timing chain, an s-10 with 210,000 miles on the original timing chain, and a suburban with 135,000 miles on the original timing chain, just for a reference for you. Hope this helped you out.

Replacing timing belt

a 2003 chevy silverado has a timing chain. In order to change this, you will have to remove the fan and clutch, the water pump, both serpentine belts, and the crankshaft pulley. You cannot reuse the bolt for the crank pulley, so you will have to buy a new one. You will also have to replace the gaskts for the timing chain. Anyways, once those are off, you remove the cover for the timing chain, and you will be able to unbolt and remove the timing chain and sprockets. Note where everything is, so you can return it to the exact same place. Once that is done, put everything back like you saw it when you took it apart, and you should be good to go. Remember to get new gaskets for the water pump, (you should replace the thermostat while you're in there as well) and make sure your belts are in good shape. Also check your idler pulleys and tensioners to make sure they're not worn out. Good luck, and enjoy your time under the hood.

60,000 mile timing chain maitenance

Your Lancer should have a timing belt. There is no grace period on changing them, follow what the manufacturer says. You have a interference engine and should the belt fail while you are driving down the highway engine damage will happen.
