I have the Haynes manual and I've seen exploded views on the web but nothing looks like the hub on my truck. The manual indicates a screw that must be removed to let the ''engaging'' mechanism come out of the hub. I have the spanner wrench once I get the front part out of the hub.
How do you get it apart?

You will need a special spanner wrench to disassemble most hubs depending on mame of hub They loan these at many auto part stores

if you go to your local library you can get pictures and diagrams you are asking for and they will let you make copies to take with you as well.

If it is a 318 (5.2) the spanner wrench is for the fan to be removed. He can overcome this obstacle with a hammer and a prybar of about 18 inches or so. Just place the edge of the prybar on the left side of the nut near the outer edge and smack it a few times to break it loose. Then he can turn it by hand to remove it. Do the same thing to reinstall hitting the right side.

I must be missing something. It should be fairly straightforward. It is pretty much just unpinning the brake caliper and hanging it so that it's weight is supported and removing the brake rotor. Put down the Chilton manual that you are using and go to the autozone.com website and register the truck. It's free and will give you access to an online repair manual. The steps for changing the brake rotors can be found there. There are pics and diagrams and the steps for removing the caliper/pads and brake rotor can be found there. (unless I am missing something) Hope this helped and best wishes.
