Ford Mondeo 2010 lifters noisy

Vehicle came in for an oil change. Actual mileage 85000 kms and last service done at dealer at 60000 kms. We changed the oil filter and oil (5W30) and when starting the car, the lifters are noisy. No DTC recorded and engine management is SIM 29 Ti. Car runs and drives smooth except from the noisy lifters.

P.S road tested the car, no issues noticed. Runs and drives fine.

Hi, the lifters can be noisy of luck of oil. Check what oil should be used on your car specification. If they still noisy that mean you need to replace them.

Testimonial: "Hi Fouzis, thanks for reply. Oil specs for that engine is 5W20. This engine is also fitted on Ford Focus. Car runs fine, no excessive smoke emission, checked on spark plugs and they are fine and no DTC. The only thing is, service inspection are at 20K intervals which to my point of view too high for our petrol quality. The last service was done at 60K until this one at 85K (25K in between them). I am leaning towards sludge in the system. Any help?"

SOURCE: Ford Fusion 04 Engine Management Light

I had a 2002 model 1.4 Fiesta, same problem Engine management light or ECA, electronic accelaration Control (EAC), it needs a ford dealer to do a computer diagnostic, most likely that it will need replaced.

Mt friend who is a mechanic for ford said that it was a common factory fault and is very common in 1.4 zetec /duratec petrol models.

I now have a 2007 Fusion and was quick to see if this problem had been sorted on this model, and it has!!

Hope this helps!!

SOURCE: How do I change fuel filter.

run a fuel pressure test, and check the fuel pump relay, in the underhood power distribution box, if relay is good and you have power at the pump with no fuel pressure then you have a bad pump

SOURCE: Changing oil in a Ford 450 super duty motor home

Places that service motorhomes want to make the bigger bucks. Do it yourself. Its just a drain plug and filter removal. They have a large oil capacity but if you have changed oil before on other cars go ahead and do it. If it sits high enough off the ground you will not need to raise it. Get a good oil change pan that holds 8 quarts. It may take that much.

SOURCE: 97 F350 diesel check engine light stays on and is running rough?

Ok, lets take this from the top. I have a 97 f250 diesel. In mid may mine did the same thing. It's either one of two things. You have under valve cover harnesses (uvc). They slide in under your valve covers, you will see two wiring harnesses on the outside of the valve cover gaskets on either side of the block. Ok, it IS possible one of these slipped out of place and killed two of your injectors, causing the horrible running/ low idle/no power/ sounds like the truck is going to stall symptoms. The easiest way to check that is to unplug the wires while the truck is running and see if it kills the engine, if it doesen't unplug the other one on the same side of the valve cover. If both of these don't cause any change then you have a bigger problem, the IDM (Injector drive module).

FAIR WARNING: When you unplug the wires with the truck on it is extremely dangerous, it is 110 volt feed. It can kill you.

OK, the IDM is a silver box, 8"x10" approx dimensions, located on the driver side under the hood, over top the front tire. If you take the wires you unplugged and take a multi meter to them and they are dead, you have a bad IDM. This was the case with my truck. Ford designed the IDM to have a hole in the side to allow condensation to escape from it, unfortunately, this allows water inside and will short out resistors and practically kill half of your engine. Buy a new IDM on ebay for about $380. It takes 5 minuts to put it in.

I hope this helps you out man.

At what mileage sould my timing chain be changed on my nissan juke 2013 1.6 petrol

If a change point is specified it will be found in the vehicle service literature supplied with the vehicle when new - or give the dealer a call.

Timing chains are more durable and longer lasting than timing belts - as long as the maintenance intervals are observed and good quality engine oil is used. Mostly replacement is required when the chain becomes noisy though some installations are so efficiently guided and tensioned a noisy chain, even when badly worn, is unlikely and so it is wise to remove the top cover periodically after a high mileage to check the chain for wear over the cam sprockets.

I have a 2001 ford focus that has a tapping sound coming from the engine. 120,000 miles and the oil is full

Hi when was the last oil & filter change, what engine is it as it will have 2 specific oil types to use, and you need to use the right one for the miles it has done. also when was the timing last checked or changed. there are oil additives that can be used on warn engines. if the engine is more tapping when cold or hot or even no change in temps. How To Quiet any Noisy Engine Valves Lifters or Bearings you can use this type of additives but when you start to use them its best to keep using them. if you have an engine rebuild it would not be recommended to use these.

Hello,

The TPS (throttle position sensor) will cause the vehcile to stall and not start. To bypass the TPS hold the gas pedal down and start vehicle. If the vehicle starts either replace or clean the TPS. FYI--usually start-up sensors will not throw a code such as the TPS (pre-ignition system).

Hope this helps--

The lifters make a rattling noise after start up, it gets quiet after driven a bit, how do you replace these?

when was your last oil change ? your oil could be dirty and basically used up,, change the oil and filter first ,, see if that doesn't help with the noisy lifters, I suggest having the rockers adjusted if the problem persists , this is a much cheaper fix, and its normally the rocker arm adjustment thats slowly gone bad, but to answer your question, you would have to remove the intake manifold to get to the lifters depending on which motor your vehicle has ,,

What can cause a knocking at the right hand side valve cover

Hi , usually a knocking / pinging from the valve cover indicates a lifter tapping. Could be worn out or just worn. Do you change your oil every 3000 with high quality oil? (I always have used valvoline standard with outstanding results) Dirty oil and filter and or incorect weight oil and or using synthetic oil in older cars can result in lifters tapping. If your oil is under 2000 miles since last change and you used a high quality oil (watch who changes your oil, some places use inferior oil because its cheaper) you can buy a pint of oil treatment formula to quiet noisy lifters to coat the lifter and quiet it down. It is a sign of engine wear, but one lifter tapping a bit wont really hurt your engine mechanically. If they all get noisy, time for a valve job. Root cause is wear due to insufficient lubrication. The lifters on newer cars are all hydraulic and they self adjust. No manual adjustment is possible. Bottom line: keep your oil changed regularly using a high quality non-synthetic oil for your 1999 vehicle.

I have 2009 D22 double cab it has done 43 000Km, however I have two concerns. The first is noisy tappets usually only when the vehicle has been standing for a day or two, however it only lasts for a few...

If the vehicle has had proper oil changes, the noisy valve lifters may the oil filter. If the anti-drainback valve is defective and the filter is at an angle,it may take a few extra seconds to refill before can supply the engine with normal oil pressure.
Also,at the last oil change, has the proper oil viscosity been used?
The noise at the dash is usually a hose.Have someone move the hoses a little while you sit inside and listen for changes in that noise at 2000 to 3000 rpm.As it becomes quiet, adjust the hose or whatever that new position.

I need the tappet setting code for a 1995 ford econovan.tappets are noisy.

There's NO code for noisy lifters. Depending on miles and previous maintenance (oil changes, etc) your lofters are probably worn. They need to be replaced and you might have an oil pressure test done to make sure there's is adequate oil pressure.

Oil light, noisy engine

If engine is noisy then you have an actual oil pressure concern.Sending unit only reads the pressure. I would recommend you have an actual oil pressure test done to see what your oil pressure is.You didn't mention what engine you have but rule of thumb is 30 psi at 1500 rpm warm engine.
