Chevy Tahoe Right Rear Wheel grinding noise

Driving the car slowly, you can hear the noise if you are stading by the rear right wheel. If you are near the left rear - you hear nothing. If you are in the car you can feel and hear this low growling, grinding noise. It is VERY localized to the right rear wheel are and the underneath of the back of the car. Thanks!

Sounds like a rear wheel bearing that needs replacing. If you have the tools check out Scotty Kilmer's handy video http://youtu.be/OeSykJguOjY

Why do I hear grinding noises while driving?

Hit in the rear axle may have damaged bearings or brake parts. Jack up the side you hear noise from, put on stand, then have helper rotate wheel while you look underneath and listen to see where noise is coming from. Use length of old fuel or heater hose, one end in ear, to locate exactly where noise comes from.

Chevy tahoe gear differential

remove the drain plugs from the diff units and check for metal bits. Check for metal in the transfer case oil as it sounds like a bearing in the diff section of the transfer case has failed.. There is a small diff here to allow the front wheels to travel at a different speed to the rear unit to allow for driving over un even surfaces or speed bumps.

2000 Chevy Blazer 4x4...started making a horrible loud noise after my cruise control went out. I have recently replaced my hub and the brake pads and the CV axle. The noise comes and goes and only happens...

does it get louder above 45-60mph? and much quieter at low speeds. It could be wheel bearings, a rear differential or front differential. If its a grinding humming noise its wheel bearings, listenin to see if theyre coming from the front or rear, left or right, or both when your driving to know what wheel bearing are bad. If its a whinning noise, its probably a differential. check and listen to hear if its coming from the front or rear. Also, check for loose plastic around the wheels. Lastly check your tires for uneven or choppy wear. move your hands front to back on the top of the tire. does it feel really choppy and rough, maybe you just need new tires

I have a grinding noise near the back drivers side wheel it comes and goes sometimes whilst driving and driving at low speeds it also happens when i go round corners. There is a burning smell near rear...

Sounds like a broken bearing. If your wheel is beginning to wobble it will make contact with the brake shoes and this will them very hot to the point of giving off a burning smell
