Cadillac catera headlights wont turn on

I cant get my Cadillac Catera headlamp to turn on. Along with the headlamps the guage lights won't work. I can turn the headlamp switch to the on position and hold the low/high beam switch back and the brights will work, but I have to hold it back while driving. I have checked the fuses and all are good. What else can I do to resolve this problem

SOURCE: Escalade headlamps do not work.

The problem is probably your switch assembly on the column. When you pull in to go to brights they go out right? I ahd the same problem and replaced the whole unit on the column.

SOURCE: How to aim the headlamps on a 1999 Cadillac

The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.

Check the relay for the heated seats first. If not working none of the seats will get warn or hot

You could have a problem with either the headlamp or dash dimmer switch but test all the fuses first.

How do I change the headlight? (passenger side)

There are three screws that holds the head lamp in place, but first you have to remove the right side radiator cover, remouve the front grill (4 screws), remouve the head lamp lower trim (one screw behind the grill and cliped at the fender), then remouve the front grill mounting bracket (2 screws) then you'll finaly reach the 3 headlamp screws (2 on top and one behind the lower headlamp trim)
Good luck

Cadillac catera wiring harness is not right.

My rear tail lights remain on any time I turn on the headlights so I ultimately have no break lights at night. This is accompanied by my cruise not working so it leads me to believe the problem is more on the break lights end. Any thoughts?
