SOURCE: air conditioning blows out defrost when accelerator is depressed

You need to open the vent, under the dash. Check the cable and moving action assembly. Make sure that it is all moving correctly. Some of the newer hvac systems in cars work off of vacume but most work with cables. Not big long cables, just small lever cables. also check your seals and make sure none of them are broken. I often find this is a bigger probel, the seal is cracked or broken or just came off and needs to be re glued in place. Don't be afraid to take the vent tubes apart as long as you can remember where they go.

Why does my ac switch from vent to defrost while driving?

This is due to a vacuum issue. The vacuum created by the motor is used to operate the actuators that control the direction of the air flow. When you accelerate you are creating more vacuum which in turn creates more in the actuators causing them to pull harder so therefore the desired setting is changed. Check your Pcv valve and make sure your hoses aren't dry rotted or leaking elsewhere, which may impact overall vehicle performance. Hope this help explain what's going on

The air conditioner on my 2009 Ford Crown Vic PPV blows cold until accelerating then changes to defrost. If it is a vacuum leak, how do you find the leak?

The mode door and mode actuator change where the air comes out. It's operated by vacuum. So you either have a leak or a bad mode door actuator motor.

My 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a blower problem. The vent/AC blows out of the floor and Defroster when I accelerate, when it is supposed to blow out the front. Please let me know what you think. I...

I think you are completely right. When you accelerate, you are opening the throttle up a little, or adding more fuel, either way, this causes a drop in pressure, which will cause the spring to pull the vent back into defroster mode. My friend has been dealing with this for years, and we still are not really sure what to do about it. What may be the cause, though, is if one of the vacuum hoses leak, it causes the lower pressure to lower still further, so check to make sure none leak.
