Could be anything electrical. A weak relay, the coil pack or ignition module, and so on.
You'll need to figure out what is loosing electrical power when it fails to start to know what to test. You might start with the fuel pump relay.
Sounds like a bad connection. The alternator only charges the battery, so if it or the voltage regulator in the alternator fails, the battery would slowly run down, not die all at once.
I know this sounds stupid but check the ground at the battery, ive had the same problem, everything worked exept the starter and it was from the battery ground being loose
Sounds like you a loose 12V connection at the relay box.Locate the relay box and when the engine is running wriggle the wiring harness or shake the relay bow and see if that's when the engine stalls. You may even have a bad / loose ground to the relays.
You need a scanner to do that, but...after so many starts of the engine, if the problem is solved, the light will go away. (I seem to think it's 50 starts)
If the service engine light is on, it could be a faulty sensor or anything electronical with the car. It may even be something non noticeable. The only way to check exact problem is to run error codes.
I'm having a similar problem. The mechanic replaced the fuel pump relay and car ran fine for a while. The problem has since reoccurred. What I've read is that this could be caused by loose wiring connections or a bad ECM (computer) which is a notorious problem for this engine. I first thought it was a fuel delivery problem as well but I'm thinking it is more of a wiring issue.
i haver a 85 buick lesaber it cuts out when i start it or should i say i loose power when try to start it and have to wait a while about a day before it starts again. there are a lot of loose wires at the harness but i nees to know exactly where the problem is accuring.
