97 RivieraPower antenna motor runs, but antenna doesn't move. It is stuck out.

Fault in the retractor assy. Is the mast bent. If it is gently try to straighten best possible lube with silicone spray. With someone turn off the radio , try manually putting antenna down with the palm of your hand squezzed around mast and forcing. Do the same going up, pull by the end tip ,

Sounds like the gears in the antenna motor are stripped. you can get a replacement power antenna from advance auto parts or napa, somewhere like that. cheaper than the dealer

In 97 GM did wire it to run continually. But not hot air. Most likely mode door is stuck or control faulty (vacuum or bodin cable)

Hi Carl.,

If the antenna motor runs and the antenna does not move out, then there is something wrong inside the antenna unit. Replacing a fuse will not solve the problem. Change the antenna unit.

Fuse location for antenna and radio
to stop power antenna from running,disconnect body harness from ant relay asm. 3 wire connector pink/red/black will disconnect from relay. if antenna continues to run and won't retract,the cord inside is broken. dealer item only or used.

When I start or shut off my 1997 Riviera the radio antenna sounds like it should go up and go down but it doesn't. The antenna motor shuts off as if it is working...what part should I replace
there is a geared strap inside of a antenna that makes the unit rise and drop,, they strip out,, some can be changed as in Toyota's I'm not positive that Buick has that switch out, you'd have to pull the unit to be sure , you could also check the local junk yards to get a complete replacement for pretty cheap, just be sure and find a 12 volt power source to check it before you purchase it, they have batteries there I'm sure !! Power antenna motor won't stop running. Do you know where the cutout switch is located?
There is no switch. When the plastic gears inside the power antenna strip out they continue to run because the limiter switch inside the unit never gets tripped. If you can assist the antenna up when it's running, leave it up and disconnect the power to the motor. If i remember correctly the antenna is mounted on the passenger rear quarter panel. You should be able to pull some of the truck trim out a little and disconnect the two or three wire connector.

How to free up a stuck parking brake pedal on a 97
Hello. Chances are this 12 year old cable is corroded. You can sometimes free them up using a product available at auto parts stores called WD-40. Spray it the length of the cable and let it sit overnight to do its magic. If after doing that two or three times, you have no success then replacing the parking brake cable would be in store. The flex drive cord that raises the antenna mast and lowers it is most likely broken, you can replace just the mast and drive cord.
