I have a 2003 Tiburron with a bad drivers side door lock actuator

Have door panel off and wnat to know how to remove all wires and door handle mechanism to replace unit

  • lenemeth Mar 30, 2009

Thanks for the reply. You may have a point but the car's remote does not unlock the door. I can manually move the lock and it works fine. It simply won't respond to the remote. According to the dealer this is a common problem with the car. My difficulty is trying to get it out. I have all the screws out but it has several actuator arms attached that must be disconnected. Not sure how to do this as it is hard to get at them due to the constraints of space in the door.

What is wrong exactly? Because i bought a new lock actuator thinking it was that part, but it wasn't. It was actually the lockrod piece on the lock (above the drivers handle). That was broken. It could be that. Go to Hmaservice.com Register with them. They always help me with troubleshooting

    1. Remove the door panel and the water shield.
    2. Disconnect the wiring from the actuator. Remove the screws and pull the actuator off the linkage.
    3. When installing, move the actuator and linkage to the locked position.
    4. Connect the linkage to the actuator and loosely install with the screws.
    5. Compress the actuator drive to take out any play in the linkage and tighten the screws.
    6. Test the locks and install the door panel.

I have a 2003 Honda Accord and My key won't lock or unlock the doors. I would like to know what trouble shooting problem I can do before I take it to a repair shop. Any ideas are welcomed.

Check your power door lock fuse located underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Flip the fuse box cover over and there will be a diagram showing what fuse controls what component. When it burns out the power door locks will no longer work. If your fuse is ok then replace your power door lock actuator has gone bad. You will then need to remove your door panel and replace the PDL actuator with a new one.

The electric door lock on driver's side will not lock when car is put into gear or by using the keyfob - must do it manually

This sounds like a bad power lock actuator, most newer cars the power lock actuator is part of the latch, you can remove the door panel and check for power and ground at the lock actuator and if its getting power on one wire and ground on the other then actuator is bad, power and ground switch bettween wires depending on if your locking or unlocking.

I am needing a door lock actuator (passenger door) for my 2000 Lexus RX300. Do you know of any parts places besides Lexus where I might find one ?

Try to find your solution here, from Germany Lexus Owners:

    QUOTE
I justreplaced my door lock actuator on my 2003 Lexus RX300. A rather comprehensive set of instructions for removal of the door panel can be found at: clublexus.com door+panel+removal

To remove the door handle trim: after removing the screw in the door handle trim, pry (I use a painters 5 in 1 tool) the trim piece outwardsfrom the rear of the door panel at both the top and bottom of the trim piece. This will release the two small rear clips. Then push the trim forward to release the main clip located on the back side the handle trim piece

As the least expensive OEM replacement door lock actuator for Lexus RX300 is $230 or more, I opted for the $15 replacement option as outlined below: us.lexusownersclub.com/forums

Keep in mind that this job outlined above is a bit on the technical side.If you aren't that talented, spend the money and order a OEM Lexus replacement latch actuator and do the installation as the OEM latch assembly is not repairable.

Viel Gluck (good luck in German)

I hope helps with this. Good luck.

How do you change a blend door actuator on a 2003 GMC Yukon. Need to know where it is located and how to get to it.

    Locks & Lock Systems
    Power Door Locks

    Diagnosis & Testing
    1. Check the fuses for the door lock circuit. Verify there is 12 volts at the fuse terminal. If voltage is not present, check the wiring.
    2. Remove the door trim panel of the affected door.
    3. Unplug the connector to the door lock actuator. Connect a test lamp across the terminals of the harness.
    4. Verify that the light illuminates briefly in both the lock and unlock positions of the switch.
      1. If it does not, there may be an open/high resistance or a short to ground in the wiring. If the wiring is OK, the IP fuse block is faulty.
      2. If it does illuminate and the lock actuator still does not work, the actuator is faulty.

    1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
    2. Disable the Supplemental Restraint System.
    3. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to the illustration for the mounting screw and lock tab locations. After detaching the hardware, carefully pull it away, then lift it off the door just far enough to detach the electrical connections from it.
    4. Carefully detach the water shield from the door; this will be reused upon installation.
    5. Disconnect the inside door lock rod from the handle retainer clip.
    6. Detach the door lock rod from the retainer clip.
    7. Remove the rubber plug to access the outside handle rod. Disengage it from the clip and disconnect the lock cylinder rod.
    8. Detach the electrical connector and remove the lock from the vehicle.
    9. Installation is the reverse of removal. When installing the lock, tighten the screws to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

    Door Lock Switch
    1. Remove the door trim panel.
    2. Remove the screw securing the switch assembly.
    3. Use a flat bladed tool to remove the switch panel bezel from the panel.
    4. Release the retaining tabs of the switch assembly using wide flat bladed tool.
    5. Remove the lock and window switch assembly from the door panel.
