1. The power windows system is a generic electronic module (GEM) controlled system. For additional information regarding GEM diagnostic strategies, for additional information, REFER to Section 419-10 .

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the power windows system.

1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

It is located in the SJB smart junction box , it's a fuse / relay center / microprocessor ! Fuse # F2.10 30 amp . location -behind left side dash panel . Also check the accessory relay . Top relay left side , same location SJB .

Both front electric windows are fed from relay T40 in the fuse/relay box in the engine compartment therefore if one window works its not a relay problem. Check fuses F85 & F86 in same box and if OK could be a faulty window motor, faulty window switch, faulty wiring or a faulty body computer(unlikely)

Check Fuse 2.3 (20 Amp). See electrical diagram below.

When it goes, it'll take out the audio and "Cluster and Panel Illumination."
(assuming your vehicle doesn't have an OEM Nav system - in which case fuse 2.3 would
supply power to the Nav system).

Fuse 2.3 is located in the CJB (Central Junction Box) - not the BJB (Battery Junction Box),
nor the AJB (Auxiliary Junction Box).

Also, check fuses F1.6 (60 Amp), and fuse F1.62 (30 Amp) in BJB (Battery Junction Box).
Also, check fuse F2.17 (15 Amp) and the "Accessory Delay Relay," both in the CJB (Central
Junction Box).





Here's the electrical diagram for 2005 Mercury Mountaineer Power Windows:
Note how fuses F1.6, F1.62, F2.17, and 'Accessory Delay Relay" will all
disable the power windows.

If only one electric window is not working, then you probably have a broken wire to that window or door. Switch or electric motor could also be the problem. The fuse would control all the windows.

there are three fusebox locations. under the bonnet, in on of the kick pannels, and behind the glovebox. check them all.

if it the old vitara i had exactly the same problem i shorted the fuze when trying to fix the windows and i could not find the fuze. By trial and error i found that the fuse is the round one next to the fuze box inside the car. Hope this helps.
