While driving or even being parked my '93 Honda Accord's radio will cut out entirely. I have noticed that when it does this it changes the dashboard clock. I'm not sure if it's a wiring problem located under the hood or if it is a wiring problem in the radio itself. I'm quite the "newbie" to radios but would greatly appreciate a hand out with this. It's mostly annoying because I have a face plate on the front with my regular presets and each time it does this I loose them. Thanks
SOURCE: 95 honda accord V6 tachometer jumping and cutting out.
I had the same problem with my 1995 Honda Accord V6 2.7L a year ago. It was a pain to have Honda diagnose the problem because it was intermittent and every time I took my car in to the dealership they said they couldn't reproduce the problem, but the longer you wait the more frequently your tachometer will fluctuate. I finally stopped by the dealership when the tachometer was jumping and they were able to diagnose the problem. In my case there was a faulty resistor in the ignition coil, but the entire ignition coil needs to be replaced. I don't know anything about cars but I know this fixed my problem. I went directly though Honda's service center so I know they charged me more than an independent repair shop but I'm looking at my invoice now and I paid $150 for the ignition coil and $200 for labor. After Honda diagnosed the problem I searched for "1995 honda accord ignition coil tachometer" and found that other people had the same problem and replacing the ignition coil was the fix. Hope this helps.

for the check engine light you will have to borrow a OBD2 code scanner from your local auto parts store and find out what the code is. although it may be related to: for your electrical problem there is a blown 10 or 15 amp fuse. just check your fuse box for one that is blown. there may be more than one. replace with same-amperage fuse and see if it happens again.

Loose wires are the hardest things to fix as even the best most experience mechanics don't like doingf them unless theirs a nice fat payment involved then its yah man I'll tak this time and materil fix till you find open check book job !!! No something like the bulb thats in the shifter ( console ) Door switches remote mirror or power window or lock switch If they don't work maybe their brocken wire is touching gronfd sometimes. If the lights in the door or shifer dontwork the door hinge area is suspect as the wires flex as the door is opened and closed the wire is the same color as it goes to all of these lights rember too that theres a wire in the radio too and if the car has an after market radio in it its the first place to cheack as the installers cause this problem way more often than the car wearing out does. remove and unplugg the radio if after market and root around in there to see if any one laid out hte wire bare and nort hooked up or taped. Many after market radios light as their turned on and dont use this wire but the factory radio does. Another car questioner didn't tell everything thats wrong to save for another question When I found out later the other things they had worked on and still were having troble with I could then figger out the real problem as I've seen so many and heard about em all. All problems effect other things therefore all problems or repairs halfway done or done too cheaply come into the picture Like your problem you might come back and say the power antenna has been broken Will it make the dash lights ficcker Yes. the tail light or front parking light or marker lite is busted bad gone or hanging under the car or just plain gone will thesthtings make the dash lights filcker? Yes

There is a yellow wire in the harness coming out of the head unit, this should be connected to a constant power. This circut maintains power to the head unit for the clock and memory.
The red wire should be connected to a source that is turned on and off with the key switch.
Testimonial: "It took me a while to find time to fix it, but the advice was "spot - on". Radio works like a champ now. THANK YOU!!"
