Why does my 2002 pt cruiser make a popping sound from the rear passenger side when turning. Is something about to fall off?

if it only does this during turning could be a few things, possible control are bushings, tie rod/rod ends, ball joints, or axle granted the axel usually is a clicking sound not popping but has been known to pop also if its ball joints or tie rods/rod ends it take a long time and really bad wear to come apart but generally doesn't happen very often so don't worry about anything falling off just check those things listed and replace what it is soon and you will be fine

hope this helped

Front is making noise when I turn

Kim:

Check your wheel bearings and ball joints. Checking the wheel bearings: stand next to the front tire, crouch down, put your hands on the top of the tire, and try to rock the top of the tire by pushing the top of the tire away from you and pulling the top of the tire toward you (rock it hard and fast). do both front tires. Any noise or sideways movement of the tire is bad, (Bearings are worn) and needs to be repaired. Then, stand at the front corner of the car, and push down on the front corner of the car repeatedly (rocking the corner of the car up and down (Rock it up and down Hard) If you hear the popping noise your ball joints need to be replaced. If these tests don't work but you still get the popping noise when you drive, take the car to a mechanic. Popping noises from the front end of a car is dangerous. If anything happens up there, you could lose your steering!

1999 ford explorer limited whining noise in front end

Whining noise is probably in one of the pulleys or belts. Probably the power steering. And the popping is probably CV axles.

Clicking noise down by the front tires.

check your axles, for an open cv boot, this clicking is on straigth or turning, if turming to your rigth you hear noise to be louder on your left then your left axle is bad, do the same to your left and if noise exists then your rigth axle is bad.good luck

Help, I currently have a 2003 Mazda6 manual hatchback, it has done approximately 195,000km at this point in time. I recently had to get my clutch replaced at 190,000km since it was warn out, note i...

will try to assist you. did you have your clutch replaced professionally? if it's a popping or cracking sound when accelerating or turning, it's most likely a c.v. axle going bad. either on driver or passenger side in the front of the car right?if it is a bad c.v. axle it will pop and crack when you turn wheel from left to right at low r.p.m. if not this, you may have brake issues. either it's a grinding sound while accelerating or decellerating,as long as cars in motion the noise will persist.try tapping your brakes while in a parking lot in slow gear, hear something from driver front, have a passenger with the widow down on passenger side, hear it from front passenger side? the thing i go by is what i hear when i test drive to diagnose an issue with a vehicle is,axles?popping and cracking when turning the steering wheel from left to right at low speed. [axle problem] grinding, scraping sound? brake issues! hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com and we are here for you 24/7 7days per week thank you!!!!

Feels like my front drivers side tire is lose but I check all the lugg nuts and they are tight. I can drive straight and I get a loud sqweal(as if I'm taking a corner to sharp) from the passenger side...

sounds like you have either tie/thrust rod ends going bad, or ball joints. Your wheel bearings could be going bad as well. Any of these can cause this problem. To check the tie/thrust rod ends, turn the vehicle off, and have a friend turn the wheel back and forth while you look at the steering linkages. If you see anything moving more than the part that it's attached to, you have found something that needs replacing right away. For Ball joints, put a jack on the a-arm right beside the wheel. Jack it up, and watch the tire as it starts to come off the ground. If it slides out when it just gets off the ground, you have bad ball joints on that side. Wheel/hub bearings can be trickier, unless they're REALLY worn. Jack the car up so that it's clear of the ground, and see if you can make the wheel wobble by moving it with your hands. You may also notice a grinding or whining sound coming from the affected side. You'll especially notice it if you drive with your window down, as you're passing a building or other hard object, as the sound reflects back at you. Hope this helped you find your problem.

My 1994 ford f-150 has a popping noise coming from the front end. Can't locate source

This can be a worn tie rod end, ball joint, steering sector, or some part of the suspension. Put the vehicle on a rack and inspect all components. Remove the front wheels and inspect the brake system. Torque the lug nuts to 105 ft/lbs.

I rock the vehicle by hand from the passenger side.I can hear a popping noise coming from behind the passenger wheel.would that be a sway bar end link, balljoints ??????????/

sway bar end links are most noticeable when hitting small bumps in rapid sucession but a ball joint will squeek just sitting there pushing on the car, try to grease them they may go quiet for a while but will eventually need replaced

Front end Rumble Simalar to worn Ball joint Noise

the problem with your truck is your knuckle bearings. I just replaced them on a friends truck and it sounds like the same problem. Just look on the inside of the front hub close to where the front axel attaches to the hub. If the seal is gone you will have a ring inside the hub on the axel shaft.
