What this looks like is an EGR valve problem.

Not an expensive part...no special tools required.

Nothing to do with shifting...this is the emissions system.

    P0420 means this:

What this means, in a nut shell, is the Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) is not working properly.

    You have an emissions problem.

    P0441:

This indicates that a part of the EVAP control system is no longer fuctioning correctly. The EVAP system consists of many parts, including (but not limited to) the gas cap, fuel lines, carbon canister, purge valve, and other hoses. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

EVAP emission canister purge is contolled by a valve which allows engine vacuum to pull stored fuel vapors from fuel tank into the engine to be burned, rather than be vented to atmosphere. A vacuum switch is used to detect when flow exists. If the PCM commands purge and sees that the switch is closed (indicating no detected purge flow) P0441 is set.

A code P0441 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

        Bad vacuum switch
Broken or damaged EVAP line or canister
Open in PCM purge command circuit
Open or short in Voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid
                Faulty purge solenoid
Restriction in EVAP solenoid, line or canister
Corrosion or resistance in purge connector
                      Bad PCM

Yes, it's the beginning of the faults anf it is specifying that the evap system in general has a malfunction.

My 1997 Toyota Camry Check engine light is comming in day time and when check engine light is on problem in auto gare shifting but in morning its ok and i chick gair sencer also but nothing happen

Your car stores computer fault codes in the engine/trans modules. They set the CHECK ENGINE light on to alert you a fault is now stored and there is a problem that requires diagnosis. You need to get the fault code scanned to proceed further. There are over 1300 DIFFERENT reasons to turn on the check engine light, some could be minor (a loose gascap), some major (CRANK SENSOR/CAM SENSOR CORRELATION...Car will stall when one finally fails!)
Checking the exact code is the only way to proceed.

My 02 camry le failed emmission test whats wrong error codes po440, po441, po446, po420

You have codes for a failed exhaust converter,PO420,
EVAP System problem PO440,Incorrect Purge Flow PO441,
Evap Vent Control issues,PO446

Your car is all messed up

That should have been all checked, BEFORE you spent time
in line for inspection

If all the codes are for real & not a false report

You will need new spark plugs, ignition & fuel checked,
new exhaust converters, new evap purge valve, new evap
vent solenoid & possibly vacuum leaks resolved

You either bought someones neglected vehicle or never
do a thing but drive it

May be easier to get a different vehicle, your repair bill
will start at $1,000 & go up, from not being proactive & taking
care of what is required in owning any vehicle (lack of knowledge)

You will need the oxygen sensors also & no, they won't fix the
amount, of what appears to be several failed items, all at one time

So much for Toyota being better than other vehicles

What all do i need to check when the check engine light comes on

You must retrieve the error code stored on your vehicle's computer. Bring your vehicle to your local autozone and have your vehicles computer scanned. Its free, then post the codes here!!

2000 corolla with trouble code po420

If the code has cleared on its own then you need to disconnect the battery and re-connect it. This will clear the codes out of the memory. If you don't want to do this you can go to an auto parts strore and have them hook the little computer up to your car and they can clear out the code as well.

PO420

Not just a faulty catalytic converter will trigger this code. Many other issues can trigger this code.

  • Leaded fuel was used where unleaded was called for
  • An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
  • The engine coolant temperature sensor is not working properly
  • Damaged or leaking exhaust manifold / catalytic converter / exhaust pipe
  • Delayed spark timing
  • The oxygen sensors in front and behind the converter are reporting too similar of readings
Possible solutions:
  • Check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, pipes, catalytic converter.
  • Replace Coolant Temperature Sensor
  • Use a scope to diagnose the oxygen sensor operation (Tip: The oxygen sensor in front of the catalytic converter normally has a fluctuating waveform. The waveform of the sensor behind the converter should be more steady).
  • Inspect the downstream heated oxygen sensor (HO2)
  • Replace the catalytic converter
  • Have timing adjusted
