Since it is a horizontally opposed four cylinder engine, the spark plugs are basically installed the same way (horizontal to the ground, in line with the pistons) Two are on the left, two are on the right. The coilpacks replace the conventional spark plug wires. You will need to remove the coilpacks to access the spark plugs. You will also have to remove the intake airbox to reach the left two spark plugs, and you will have to remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir to reach the other plugs. This is very time consuming... the right tools make it much easier. Make sure you get the oem replacements, otherwise your car may not run well.

I have a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse spider, how to change the spart plugs

i'm guessing you're asking because it's a v6 FWD and you don't know how to get to the spark plugs along the firewall. you will need to find the front motor mounts or the anti torque bolts whatever you wanna call it and make your motor swing. you can do that by locating your front motor mounts or side or even rear. i'm not sure with a eclipse but once you've found the anti torque bolts attached to it and removed them you can roll the car forward and it should leave about 6 inches of space behind the engine to get the those spark plugs. front should be easy

How do I access and change the spark plugs on a 2007 subaru 2.5i?

you will need a u joint and a short and medium extention along with the spark plug socket. remove the coilpack then assemble the socket, extention and u joint to get the best fit. you will find this easier to remove the washer fluid bottle and the air inlet hose to improve access to the plugs and wires. this is not a simple diy job as it might seem. I have even lifted the engine off of its mounts to save time.

Changing the spark plugs

All of them are easy except the last in the back as you are probably aware. No 'special' tools needed. I managed it with a a u-joint and 10" and a 6" extensions; the 10" seems about just right, the other not so critical.
From the passenger's side, lay over the wheel well and drop your plug socket with the 10" extension into the spark plug hole. That may take a couple minutes a fiddling to find it. Once in, slip on the u-joint. It will be right up against the firewall. Then put the other extension on. Voila!

Installing is the same. Put the plug in with the 10" extension, start by hand, then put the u-joint on & finish.
