you said test switch continuity and operation. How do I do that? I also noticed that my window lock does not lock my window. Does that have something to do with it? cadman000,

Re: 2002 cadillac escalade driver side back window stuck.
If you cannot operate the window from either switch, I'd first test switch continuity and operation, both front and rear. If they both pass muster , I'd have to say the fault lies behind the door trim, probably the motor, which also be tested once reaching that point..

Right side of the vehicle has a different power supply then left side . Two relay's . RAP #1 & RAP #2 . The RAP #1 relay supply's power to the radio an driver side power windows . I think maybe you have two different problems . The radio not turning off, maybe caused by the RAP relay having stuck contacts . Driver side windows not working , could have broken wire inside the flex boot from the body to the driver door .
Rap relay #1 is located in the left instrument panel fuse box .
Fuse Block -Left I/P
On the lower left side of the I/P
The RAP #1 relay is turned on by the BCM - body control module . Could have a DTC - diagnostic trouble code stored .
Do you know how to test automotive electrical circuit's use a wiring diagram an a DMM - digital multi-meter ? Pull the driver door panel off an check power an ground circuit's for the driver window switch . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. Year , Make , Model an engine . Under system click on body & accessories , then under subsystem click on power windows . Click the search button then the blue link . Could you explain that a little better ? When you push the up switch for driver's side window ,the window goes down ? Bad window regulator . That would make sense , you probably open an close that window more .
This sensor is located on the left (drivers) side of the cylinder head, in front of the exhaust manifold. It is just behind the alternator and A/C units. Do-Not do while coolant is HOT:::Take the wires off. Using a deepwell socket (not sure what size, but maybe 15/16) remove (be careful because the coolant will come out), replace with new one and plug wires back on.
Oh well, hey, if you got the panel off, you've already accomplished the near impossible! And no thanks to safelite, very rude of them. The bars or rods should be able to be pushed or pulled to ...open door latch, or work locks. Is that the kind of bars you mean? If so, find the door lock and get that unlocked, then the door. If it isn't like I picture it, get a good ole Cadillac person to open it for you!
1) Key turns but dose not unlock door. This means that the rod that goes to the back of the lock has came off. This also means that is the reason door is not unlocking with the remote as it pops the lock rod inside the door which pushes the lock open. 2) Key does not turn lock at all but works passengers side door. This means that the locks has been changed in the door, but that doesn't sound like the problem as you say the remote doesn't open the drivers side door so more than likely the rod has came off the back of the lock
has the vehicle been in an accident around the drivers door A pillar? Sounds like there are some wiring issues inside of the harness or connector that goes from the body to the door.
First check your fuses (Manual should have that location for the window fuses). Also do the other windows go down on the other side with the switch on the drivers door? And what else doesn't work ( Mirrors, Locks )?
cadman000,
you said test switch continuity and operation. How do I do that? I also noticed that my window lock does not lock my window. Does that have something to do with it?
