My 89 gmc 1500 will not turn over

I have a 1989 gmc sierra 1500 350 small block that ran good and all i did was change the plugs and wires turned her over and she started rough so i new the wires were wrong. sure enough two of them were not connected so i plugged her back up and went to start it and nothing at all. didnt turn over or make any sounds. all my lights and gauges work but nothing else motor wise. so i got a new starter put it in and still nothing. checked all my grounds and wires and they all match up. i even bypassed the neutral saftey switch by running a cable straight from the s terminal on the starter to the battery and only heard the starter turn over really slowly and again silence. please help me!!!!!!!!!! oh yeah i was able to turn the motor by hand with all plugs in pretty easily so throw the blown motor out the window too plus i am getting 12v down there from the main terminal on the starter.

Did you check your ground wire?If ground is good check to make sure your solenoid wire which is purple usually if it is broke if not get a test light and have someone turn motor over to crank position and check if power there if so more than likely ground problem. If solenoid has no power move to fuses under drivers dash..

Then check to see if you have power on the s terminal side when cranking. And make sure your key is being turned all the way to crank position..If all checks out take a screw driver and jump the s terminal and hot cable side of starter and see if that rolls it over if so then theres a problem in the ignition side,

What size engine goes into a 1991 gmc sierra 2300

2300????? Huh. I though they were 1500, 2500. i could be wrong. ususaly in the 3/4 tonne vehciles, they have a small block V8. I hae seen quite often a 350 cubic inch...but, depending on your transmission and engine braket mounts, not to mention mechanic skills and fabrication abilities, you could put whatever you want in it...As i said, probably a 350 small block is what was in there...probably

My gas gausge doesnt work in my 89 gmc sierra. How

If all your other gauges work, more than likely you have a bad sending unit in the gas tank or bad ground to the sending unit.

4 wheel drive will not engage on my 1989 gmc sierra 2500?

actually that first soultion is wrong it is correct on smaller pickups but on the full size pick ups they use a differnet sytem

there be two elctrical plugs on front axle u want the bigger of the two other one is just to turn the 4 wheel drive light on
un plug actuator then remove actuator after it removed plug it back in but leave it out of axle turn key on and shift down to 4 wheel drive the actuator should move out if it dont that your problem if i does move this isnt your problem it either the tranfer case or in front axle

Rough idle and accelleration in my 89 GMC truck with a 350 TBI

Try a new distributer cap and rotor button, these are notorious for wearing out the carbon pick-ups and leaving carbon tracks in the cap which messes up the fireing order. If that does'nt fix it try plugs and wires.
