2000 blazer 4.3 hard to start (fuel problem)

I connected the fuel press. tester to the rail. when the key is turned to run position (without starting) fuel pump comes on, fuel press goes to about 60-62 psi, fuel pump goes off, then press. drops to 0 after about 4 to 5 seconds. If I turn switch to start quickly. Engine will crank once or twice and press. drops to 0 right away. It will sometimes start and runs good.
fuel pump? again
fuel filter? again
press regulator? where is it
help!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have the fuel tester hooked the in the overgrown air valve on the fuel rail in the back of the engine? Or do you have the fuel line unhooked in the back and hooked to the pressure pump? You want the fuel pressure to be in that 60 lb range so if you are hooked into the pressure valve on the fuel rail allowing fuel to go through, then I am betting it is the fuel pressure regulator. To get to that, you have to take the throttle body off and take the plastic plenum that covers the injector packs. On the back of the mount where your six pack of injectors are sits the pressure regulator. If it is faulty then it is dumping fuel instead of holding the pressure like it should.
Get a Chilton or Clymer manual and it shows you in pretty good detail how to fix it. I've done it to my 98 S10 with the same engine.

If you unhooked the fuel line so you are losing pressure from the line back to the pump then I would say your pump is letting fuel back to the tank when it shuts off. My money is on the first possibility though.

Good luck

What kind of pump did you buy? If it is a cheap after market then my quess is it is the pump again. buy a good delphi pump next time. Unhook the vacum line from the regulator try your test again if it holds then the vac line is pulling fuel thru a bad diaphram in the regulator

IF THE VACUUM LINE IS PULLING FUEL THROUGH THE DIAPHRAM OF THE REGULATOR THEN YOUR MIXTURE WOULD BECOME RICH AND THE EVIDENCE WILL BE SHOWN AS BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT THE EXHAUST PIPE .

If oil pressure sending unit is bad will it stop fuel pump from working on a 2000 blazer

You should never try a pump without it being in fuel. It uses fuel for lubrication when it is running. If the vehicle doesn't start at all when you first crank it over it is not the oil pressure sender. If you just put the pump in you might want to turn the key off and on several times to cycle the pump then try to start it. If it doesn't start then check fuel filter or check fuel pressure at fuel rail in engine compartment. Is fuel pump cycling at all when the key is turned on? There is a problem with ignition switches on some of these blazers.

2000 grand am gt will not start. in previous days it was hard to start but once it was going there was no problem starting it the rest of the day. when you turn the key on you can hear the pump start but...

fuel pumps are a real common problem for these cars you can hear them run and they can still be bad because they leak the fuel pressure back into the tank instead of holding steady there is a test port under the hood on the fuel rail ontop of the intake there is a plastic cap on it and if you unscrew the cap it looks like valve steam in a tire hook up a fuel pressure tester there (you can borrow one from autozone or kragen for free) fuel pressure should be at least 50psi with the key in the on position and hold there steady if its less or if the pressure starts to drop replace the fuel pump

Changed fuel pump and fuel filter.. how do I get all the air out of the lines

When you turn the key on, you should have fuel pressure. If not, something is not right. (The fuel pump should cycle for a few seconds when you first turn on the key to "run")

Blazer will not start getting gas to rail getting fire to plugs will not start but deisel when you let of key

Good Evening. I can certainly understand your situation, and think you are on the right track. What I would like to ask is if you have checked the pressure at the fuel rail, because fuel alone is not enough without the right pressure. I would recommend a mechanical fuel pressure tester to see what you actually have. It could also be your crankshaft position sensor (rarely) but I would say getting a real reading on fuel pressure will help and so will checking the ecm for codes that may be helpful. Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

My 96 blazer wont start it just cranks but wont start?

A typical engine needs mostly just gas and spark to run (besides air of course)
Sounds like the engine is not getting one or the other.

Fuel goes from fuel pump, to filter, to fuel pressure regulator, to fuel rail, to injectors.
You can test for fuel pressure with key on, at the fuel rail. There will be a test port on the rail that you can put a rag on top and push in the valve to see if there is pressure. (or use pressure tester)
If there is no pressure, check that fuel pump relay is working. (you can use an ohmmeter on relay to see if there is resistance). You can also test power to relay and to the pump with a voltmeter to see if pump is getting power. Or turn key to ON position and listen to see if you hear the pump turn on.

If you have no spark to any cylcinders, the crank shaft position sensor may be faulty which is very common in GM vehicles.

You can use an ohmmeter to test the sensor itself.
You can also get a spark plug tester to see if there is spark to each cylinder.
You can also remove one spark plug, plug back into plug wire, lay on top of engine so spark plug diode is 1/4" away from metal surface. Have someone else turn engine over while you look for spark. Do this to each cylinder.

2000 blazer hard to start in the morning takes 3 times do hear fuel pump replaced cap rotor pick up coil

Try this. Turn key to the on position, but do not start. Now press accelerator pedal all the way down for say 5 seconds. With pedal still depressed turn key to start position, does engine now start.

Car turns over but won't start.

Have you checked the fuel pump relay with an ohmmeter/multi-tester? You will have to follow the power lines to find it. I would check the relay first. Then check fuel rail fuel pressure. It may be faulty fuel pressure regulator or a sensor. Is your check engine light on? If so, I would have the codes read to pinpoint exact problem location. Check your spark to make sure each plug is firing.

If you want more info let me know.

MY 2000 CHEVY BLAZER WON'T START

Is it getting fuel? Does it sputter or fart when starting? Does it have spark? Pull the coil wire off of the distributor and hold 1/8 to 1/4 inch from where you pulled it off (able to see exposed connections and with rubber gloves so not to get shocked) and roll engine over to see if sparks. If spark then must be a fuel problem. Can you hear a buzzing noise like a fuel pump running when you key your ignition to the run (not start) position?
