Ran good one day and the next day it would turn over but not start.I replaced cap rotor and coil and checked all the fuses. And still nothing.Wondering what to try next.
When you disconnect a spark plug wire, do you get spark when you crank the engine over?
If so,
When you turn the key to the "run" position (do not crank) do you here the fuel pump run for 2 - 3 seconds?
Let me know.
Regards,
Ok, You have 3 wire connectors at the distributor.
1 connector is white with a pink wire- should have 12 volts with key on. If good, go to next.
1 connector is brown with a smaller light- tan wire which is for the tach signal. Disconnect the wire and crank engine over to see if you have spark.
1 connector that has 3 - 4 wires that go into the distributor itself. This wire is for the control module and pick-up coil.
Remove the distributor cap and disconnect the module connector that goes to the pick-up coil and check resistance. 800 - 1200 ohms.
If good, replace module.
Good luck and let me know.
Regards,
Did you try leaving the tachometer wire disconnected at the distributor?
What engine do you have.
You are going to have to get a volt/ohm meter to test for voltage at the pink wire of the distributor and if that is OK, test resistance and short to ground of the pick-up coil to figure out why your not getting spark.
Below is a diagram of the distributor and the test for the pick-up coil, good luck, let me knowl
Regards,
You have found the problem, the distributor pickup coil is open. You will have to remove the distributor, disassemble it and replace the pickup coil.
Make certain before you remove the distributor to mark the location of the distributor housing to the engine block and the rotor contact to a specific spot on the engine to align later. When you put the distributor back in, align the rotor contact to the same spot on the engine and the distributor housing to the same spot on the engine, you should be good to start.
Good luck.
Regards.

Try the fuse box. i had the dist. cap fuse blow and i had the same problem. Other problems could be loss of power to the fuel pump.

Thanks for the Ideas
I don't have a volt/ohm meter,so not sure how else to check things.I did replace the module today.I still have no spark.I do apreciate your ideas,THANKS
No I have not tried that. What can I expect to have happen?
still no spark with tach wire disconnected.

I have power to the pink wire. And no resitance from coil.
