Wiper linkage bushings

The linkage on the wipers keeps coming undone. Is there a way to keep this linkage together.

SOURCE: driver side wiper

Wipers ARE NOT "DIFFERENT SIZES" in Fact they are Usually the same I have A 97 Caravan And BOTH Sides are SAME SIZE. They Must OVERLAP Each Other As to Cover Glass Completely. If your Wipers are Same As 1997 the Direction they Turn is the SAME as in (#1) FROM Left to right. (#2) Some However Go In OPPOSITE Direction SUCH AS BOTH START FROM CENTER and Travel OUTWARD Right Side Wiper going out to from center at Start and Right Direction LEFT SIDE Starts at CENTER and Travels to the LEFT. All of THAT BEING SAID SEEMS TO ME that Yours are ( #2) TYPE and When you Installed the Wiper ARM You May Have not Installed it in the EXACT POSITION as the One you Removed, They Must Be Timed. ,
The BEST WAY Is In There "PARKED" POSITION" That's when you turn them off and they seem to AUTOMATICALLY Drop Down LOW on Windshield. This is Usually When you can Time them Correctly it May take A Few Try's to Catch them Just right. JUST REMOVE the One you Replaced and Put it Back on in Slightly in Different Position . I Believe That This Is The Answer you Are Looking for Have A Great Day , Please RATE Me and Thank You Very Much

SOURCE: when wipers are on they do not move but you can

If you can move the wipers freely all the way across the windshield then they have either come unhooked from the wiper motor aor the transmission in the wiper motor is stripped. You will have to take the motor off the firewall to check because they are attached on the back of it. Normally the wiper arms are attached to the wiper motor by a nut or sometimes a clip. If that is intact the transmission is bad and the wiper motor will need to be replaced. If the nut is loose or missing tighten it up and check the wipers before you put it all back together to be sure they work. Use a lock washer if you can do this to keep the nut from coming off again. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My passenger side wiper linkage (on a 1999 Caravan

if the little serrated or fluted stem/axle is turning back and forth with the driver side, then yes your problem is that the arm itself is stripped out. that is a good thing as opposed to replacing the whole wiper linkage/transmission. look in the phone book for auto salvage yards and call around until you find one with a vehicle close to yours. bear in mind that most chrysler product vans will have the same wiper arms. when someone says "yeah we got one" take your wiper arm go out there and inspect theirs to make sure it is the same and that the hole is not stripped out already. part should not be more than 10 bucks on a car that old.

My 2011 Ford Expedition Max has the right passenger wiper that does not work. The driver side one does. What would the problem be with the wiper that isn't working

  • The wipers move because of pivot linkage arms in the cowling that keep the wipers in the right position. It sounds like the pivot bushing has broken on the one side. This is not an easy fix in most cases. These pivot arms can be really hard to get to.

WIPER MOTOR RUNS BUT WIPERS WONT MOVE

everyone will tell you that the linkage/transmission will need to be replaced but it doesn't,,most of the time its a bushing and O'Rielly's auto parts sells a "WIPER LINKAGE BUSHING ASSORTMENT" part# 49447 and it sells for about $5 bucks. Its fits tight and took a few minutes to install but its worth the trouble to save about $100

My wiper motor runs, but the wiper arms do not move

The wiper linkage may have come off or broken. I would look up under the cowl to see if everything is intact.

97 nissan sentra windshield wiper linkage arm disconnected

Most likely you will have to replace the wiper linkage from the center pivot to the left or drivers-side wiper pivot. The plastic piece in the linkage gets brittle over time and breaks down. To save a hassle in the future, replace both linkages. It should be under $20.00 for parts.
