2002 Sebring -Odometer Lights Flicker then bing battery indicator
Where to start? 2002 Sebring with 75000 miles. For a couple of years the dash lights have either gone off while driving or not come on at all. Mechanics have looked at it (even the dealership) but no fix. Then this winter I needed a replacement battery (it was 6 years old). Car ran great for about a month, then while driving the Odometer Lights start to Flicker then 'bing' the battery indicator comes on. When this happens, sometimes the radio goes off, sometimes just the sound is off and slowing down or stopping causes the car to die. Restarts fine, then no problem at all, everything is perfectly fine. Wet or dry weather doesn't matter. I only drive 10 to 20 miles once or twice a week now because I work from home.
When the electrical ghost appeared, I also noticed that the oil indicator is coming on at idle, sometimes, but not all the time. It also comes on sometimes during a turn. Sometimes it idles at 500 rpm, sometimes at 400 rpm.
I maintain the vehicle regularly, oil changes, etc.
Just got the car back from the shop yesterday, they went over everything. Everything checks out ok. They can duplicate the problem but when they go to check it, everything is working again.

Best place to start is the positive lead on the battery . Remove the lead and clean battery pole and terminal using sand paper until you have shiny syrfaces. Replace the lead and tighten the terminal . Check the battery for charge condition as what you describe indicates a flat battery
try setting the odometer to read the trip miles. Then turn the ignition key to the off position. Now while holding the trip meter reset button in, turn the ignition key to the run position ( not cranking the engine just until the dash lights come on). The dash should go into a reset mode. You can release the trip reset button while the dash resets itself, should take less than a minute to complete.
check and recheck all conections on battery and starter and grounds on battery and the ground on engine bblock and body ground or grounds,if not sure make another one ,check connections at battery ,it does sound like a bad ground to body and eng just make ur owne and see what happens
On thedash of my 2003 sedan sebring ,My dash ilumination lights for the speed,temp,tack\rpm and fuel are unlit.
I found that there is a paper thin plastic across and behind all four of these gauges which lights up all four gauges,if working correctly, There is a very poor connection to this thin film lighting system ,basicaly a wire terminal used as a staple and that very well could be your problem.
It as far as I know would require whole gauge assembly replacement! because dealers dont sell such small portions of some assemblies!
I myself will attempt to crimp this poor connection on my car without damaging thin film! there are no bulbs for those four gauges too iluminate!
I had the same problem some time ago, lights would go on and off, odometer appeared to stop counting at times rpm gauge would work and then not... power steering would off and on work and head lights would blink on and off when in driving light mode (off position).. The fix for me was I had to have the dash computer replaced (about $500). After doing this around 50k miles ago all the gremlins seem to have remained gone.. Hope this helps
