Advance auto gave me the codes they are
P0014 "B" Camshaft position timing over advanced, camshaft position actuator "B" timing over advanced
P0526 Fan speed sensor circuit malfunction
I would like to know what this means and if I can fix it.
Or what does something like this cost to have fixed , or if it may be covered under warranty.
Pretty common when the oil gets very dirty. You can try changing the oil, chances are this will work. OR you can try cleaning the Variable Valve Solenoid next to the P/S pump. Most of us run full synthetics in our 4.2's. Note* if it IS dirty oil, just changing it will turn the light off pretty quickly.
There are internal valve timing parts that are not operating correctly. Take it to a dealer to find out whether your warranty will cover the repairs.

THE CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR IS LOCATED IN THE CYLINDER HEAD ON THE FRONT RIGHT HAND SIDE JUST ABOVE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. AFTER YOU REMOVE THE ACTUATOR CHECK TO SEE IF ANY OF THE SCREENS ARE DAMAGED OR MISSING. IF SO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR. ALSO CHECK THE CRANKSHAFT END PLAY. IT SHOULD BE BETWEEN 0.0044" - 0.0153". if excessive crankshaft end play is causing this concern, it will be obviously out of specification by as much as.050" or more when a pry bar is used to move the crankshaft back and forth. IF THIS IS THE CASE AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT IS RECOMMENDED DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF DEBRIS IN THE ENGINE. IF NO EXCESSIVE CRANKSHAFT MOVEMENT NOTICED REPLACE THE CAM ACTUATOR. IT WILL ALSO BE NECESSARY TO DO AN OIL CHANGE.

DTC P0014 Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) System Performance.
The cam phasing system is a hydraulically actuated phase shifting mechanism. The powertrain control module (PCM) supplies the ignition positive driver and ground circuits. A pulse width modulated (PWM) driver controls the amount that the camshaft actuator solenoid assembly advances or retards the exhaust camshaft. The exhaust camshaft is commanded to a maximum ****** position of 25 degrees. When the exhaust camshaft is retarded at the maximum rate, the duty cycle of the signal is at 100 percent. The maximum advance rate has a 0 percent duty cycle. Other than when the camshaft is at full advance, a 50 percent duty cycle is used to maintain a steady ****** angle.
Remove Cam Phaser Solenoid and inspect it to ensure that all 3 screens are intact. Chances are you will need to replace this Solenoid and change the oil immediately.

hi, this is due to oil pressure send to the exhaust camshaft position sensor,, before u change this sensor or checking engine timing,, change the positon of sensor a to sensor b and check the dtc if it is still p0014, if other dtc will send to ecmit means that the sensor is the problem, if P0014 still the code, you may now check bank 1 timing
SOURCE: where is the intake camshaft position actuator
if it is a V-6 engine look on the belt side of the motor. You will see a black cover with a connector right behind the serpentine belt about in the middle of the engine.
if its a 4 cylinder there will be two of them located under the engine cover and mounted on top of the valve cover towards the front of the engine.

P0010 - "A" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit (Bank 1)
A P0010 code refers to the VVT (variable valve timing) or VCT (variable camshaft timing) components and the car's PCM (powertrain control module). That consists of an oil control valve (OCV), also called a solenoid valve and other components. Basically the check engine light and associated P0010 trouble code means that the voltage in the circuit has fallen below a set limit for a specific amount of time (varies by make/model/engine).
Symptoms may include:
* Check Engine Light illuminated (Malfunction Indicator Lamp)
* Rough running
* other symptoms may also be present
Causes: A code P0010 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* Faulty oil control valve (OCV)
* Open or short in the VVT/VCT circuit
* Open or short in the OCV / solenoid valve
* Damaged computer (PCM)
Possible Solutions: Some recommended troubleshooting and repair steps are:
* Carefully inspect the Bank 1 VVT/VCT system circuit wiring and connectors, repair as required
* With a warm engine, test the operation of the OCV, replace/repair as needed
Hope this helps to solve it (remember to rate this answer).

I think your sensors are pattern parts and the readings /resistances are not the same as the original parts ,try some bosch units is my first suggestion ,

My 2002 Trailblazer has the Serivce Engine Light coming on. A friends code reader shows P0014 as well. Place where I have oil changes said they don't handle this kinda of problem but from the posts I am reading, this could be caused by bad oil. Would clearing the code and changing to a better oil work? And if so, what kind of oil should I use. Thanks DH
