Yesterday, my car started sounding like there's a little barking dog under the hood. It's a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville nearing 100K miles. Last week my car was serviced for a tune up... New spark plugs and wires. I am being told that either my water pump is getting ready to go up, or that I have a loose pully... (What ever that is). My car makes this sound regardless if it's in drive or just on sitting idle. Someone PLEASE HELP ME!!! I'm open for suggestions. I will have my car serviced professionally, however when I get there I don't want them to take advantage of me because I'm a female and because I don't know to much about cars. Thank you.
They are most likely correct in it being a water pump or a pulley( which are the circles the drive belt spins to run your accessories such as power steering, your alternator, etc.; the water pump will probably run around 75 to 175 dollars and it shouldn't take long to remove and replace it so labor shouldn't be too high.. hope it helps
