I have a 1996 v6 tacoma i took the fuel tank out. i have a new fuel pump to put in. but i descovered there is no electricity being suppied to the harness conection of fuel tank.

You may have a break in the wire inside the tank to the fuel pump. I have seen the wires disconnect as the pump is installed.

Any trouble light? Sounds like it might be misfiring during acceleration which is more related to ignition quality than timing. Check the spark plugs--if badly worn, replace them. Might need new spark plug wiring. Check the air cleaner. Replace the O2 sensor if the truck has a lot of miles. Look for loose or cracked vacuum hoses.
