My engine light is on for what mechanics say is a cellinoid valve failure, and they also say that when they activate and test the valve, it runs fine with no errors. so basically no one can figure out why the light is even on! its been a mystery for a couple months now, so i hope someone out there has some input on it. thanks.

Hi there:
Fault Code 119 (77) - MDK throttle mechanical sticking.
The accross DTC P1580 code converts to 3 possible BMW codes, 109, 114 & 119. These all relate to the throttle assembly, which on your car is an MDK, motor driven throttle.
The first thing I would do is make sure that the cable is reinstalled correctly and secure in its bracket. I have seen one or two of these that have broken where the cable attaches to the throttle itself. If all of that looks ok I think you probably have a bad throttle.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.
Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

I have never seen a false code (20 years of doing code tests), if a code set there is a problem, what is the code?
Whats the actual code you are receiving from the CPU?
Whats the actual name of the malfunctioning part?
