Srs airbag light is on on my 99 pontiac grand prix

This is a air bag fault light .it comes on when you have a fault in the air bag system.

The light comes on because the airbag computer has detected a malfunction. You need to have the system checked for codes with a scan tool. Then have the cause repaired by a trained technician. The airbag system is not a safe place for do it yourselves.

this is for the passenger seat? if so it has a weight limit switch in the seat .the weight has to be more than 105lbs to turn the light off so if little ones are in the seat it wont go off in a collision because the force of the bag deploying can kill them

WELL BE FOR YOU GO AFTER AIR BAG IN STEERING WHEEL YOU SHOULD GET THE CODE READ IT MAY NOT BE IN STEERING WHEEL IT COULD BE A LOT OF DIFFRENT THING MAKE THAT LIGHT STAY ON IT COULD BE SENSORS IT COULD BE PASENGER SIDE AIR BAG IT COULD BE SEAT BELT ANY WAY YOU NEED TO HAVE SOME ONE READ THE CODE FOR YOU HOPE THIS HELPS

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity problem.

I DO NOT recommend disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s).

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

crank sensor is a common fault
