1989 260e Hi what is the shockabsorber that is attached to the top of the motor is it a motor stabliser

Hi Stephanie, it is hard not knowing the model of your car but with all motors the thermostat is located in the cooling system on the discharge side, this is where the top radiator hose attaches, some are even in the top hose in a round metal housing

Motor Assembly, Convertible Top Removal and Installation
NOTE: The folding top hydraulic cylinder rods should be in the fully retracted position.
Use absorbent rags or a container to catch any hydraulic fluid that leaks out when removing the fittings.

1. Remove motor and pump assembly as outlined.

1. Loosen each folding top motor upper and lower hose fitting on the sides of the folding top hydraulic lift motor and plate kit (533A00) .

1. Remove the folding top hydraulic lift motor and plate kit .

1. Remove each of the service folding top hydraulic lift motor and plate kit plugs one at a time and attach the tee fitting to the replacement folding top hydraulic lift motor and plate kit . NOTE: Make sure that the o-ring is installed in the bottom of each folding top hydraulic lift motor and plate kit port before attaching the hose tee fitting.
   

1. Connect the folding top hydraulic lift motor and plate kit unit to a 12-volt power source and cycle the folding top hydraulic lift motor and plate kit in and out several times to purge the air from the folding top motor upper and lower hoses (53390) . Some noise squeal may be noticed due to the air. CAUTION: Do not overfill or the reservoir seal could be blown out.
   

1. Carefully remove the rubber fill plug from the back and the reservoir and check the fluid level. The level should be at the bottom of the filler hole. If necessary, add Synthetic Mercon® Multi-Purpose Automatic transmission fluid E6AZ-19582-B (ESR-M2C163-A2) or equivalent.

1. Replace the fill plug with a new fill plug.

1. To install, reverse Removal procedure.

1. Remove the upper and lower hose fitting from the folding top hydraulic cylinder (50600) . Use absorbent rags or a container to catch any hydraulic fluid that leaks out when removing the fittings.

1. Remove each of the service cylinder plugs one at a time and attach the hose fittings. NOTE: Be sure each fitting is installed in the correct position on the folding top hydraulic cylinder .
   NOTE: Make sure that the tetra seal is installed in the bottom of each of the folding top hydraulic cylinder ports before attaching the upper and lower hose fittings.

hi you can locate the thermostat by, locating the top hose on the radiator, then follow that to the engine/motor where it attaches to the engine/motor this is the thermostat housing, thats where your thermostat will be....hope this helps

Short answer is no.
Unbolt it at the bottom, compress the shock by hand, then unbolt the top and remove.

there should be 1 or 2 bolts at the bottom of the strut you need to take them out.also there should be a stabliser link thats needs to be taken off the strut under the hood there are 2 to 3 nuts on top of the strut they need to be removed as well if the outer tie rod is bolted to the strut that needs to be removed as well and you may need a tierod seporator to remove it there may be also a brake line attached to the strut that will need to be removed also there is a center nut on top of the strut assembly do not remove this nut unless the strut is in a spring compressor when you reinstall the new strut assembly bolt every thing back up like it was and get an alignment done as soon as possible

put some spring clamps on spring then undo shockabsorber and then lower the arm with another jack .

The only reason i can see hanging to your problem is either your shockabsorbers or spring coils. Let them check by a professional.

dont know what part is attached to the fuel line ,, but go to advace or auto zone and let them look it up for you and replace

The convertible top motor and release lever are in the luggage compartment.
From the Bentley manual, the following general procedure is suggested in order to close the top in an emergency situation.
Main motor. To release the top linkage from the motor, lift the left corner of the rear seat to access emergency release handle.
It is then possible to push the top manually to a near closed position. In case of the semi-automatic top, simply attach and lock the front latches.
Front latches. Once the fully automatic convertible top has been released from the motor and manually pushed to near-closure, emergency latching of the top is possible by using the S-shaped hex key provided in the emergency tool kit(attached to the trunk lid underside).
First, remove the the plastic cover over the latch motor in the front bow of the convertible top.
Next, use the hex key from the tool box to crank the front latches shut.

en el baul de carro por el area del shockabsorber del lado pasajero hay un cable que le da correinte and la bomba de gasolina chq ese cable que este bien puesto ....si no es eso quisas la bomba de gasolina se daño para cambiarla tienes que levantar el asiento de atras ..
