On my 95 Ford Bronco, occasionally, but not always, when I apply the brakes there is a LOUD thud noise. Almost sounds like you hit a giant pothole-even jolts the car. Sometimes it happens and it's just a mild knock. Any ideas?
How long has it been since the breaks themselves were replaced?
what it seems like is there is either a break locking problem, or possibly the axle could be damaged.
not much but my suggestion would be to take it to get a diagnostics check on the full brono and see if an auto shop themselves can figure it out.

No, I'm a single female and don't know a lot about this kind of stuff! Also seems my brake pedal is low. Could the two be related? Appreciate your time.
No, the rear brakes haven't been replaced.
rear brake wear will cause a low pedal, also improper rear brake adjustment will cause a low brake pedal. after checking the front calipers, you should probably check the rear brakes for wear and adjustment, the self adjusters often freeze up
possibly yes, if you can take a tire off the front and look at the back side of the calipers, look for the mount to have shifted, bright metal spot around the bolts, then try to move the calipers by hand, have you replaced the rear brakes?
have you checked the calpier mounts?
