My 1996 Suburban has no power going into the fuse box where the starter relay switch plugs in, so my husband installed a push button to jump the power from another location. That is a temporary fix. The other issue I am having is at first the radio was draining the battery, even when it was turned off, so we removed it. Now the dome light fuse is draining the battery. Could all these electrical problems be related? I need to solve this problem because this is the vehicle my 16 year old daughter will be driving next school year.
You may need a shop to look at it, or get a used shop manual from Ebay to get the necessary wiring diagrams. The problems could be related, such as the key switch or the main wiring harness.
You say the dome light fuse is draining the battery, is one of the interior lights staying on ?
Testimonial: "None of the lights stay on once I take the key out and shut the door. I was thinking it has to be a major wiring problem, I just hope it doesn't cost me more than the vehicle is worth."

The alternator test will likely indicate a charging problem from the alternator that is not keeping the battery charged up.
Regardless of the alternator test, it would be best to do an electrical draw test to determine whether there is an excess drain on the battery. This can be done with an ammeter between the positive terminal and the positive battery post. This test is done with key off, all accessories off, no lights on, etc. There will be a small draw on the battery in all newer vehicles, but it should be in the order of up to 50 milliamps. If you are getting more than 200 milliamps of current draw then there is a problem with an electrical system that will drain the battery over a period of days or weeks. Once you know this is true, the electrical systems can be methodically tested.

bad ground cable, use a jumper cable from negative to alternator bracket, if it starts thats it.
SOURCE: no electrical power to anything - even dome light.
Check battery and chassis earth connections are ok.
Check for 12v power at the fuse/power disrtribution fuse bus; - if no power there, trace circuit wiring back to battery.

The oil pressure gauge on the engine runs the fuel pump until the engine receives full oil PSI and shuts off. Upon that time the relay takes over for the fuel pump
