What caused burst of white exhaustsmoke and burnt rubber smell? is 2003 Winstar safe to continue driving? It has some wetness near the radiator and dripped some dark black/green drops.

Doing 70 on the freeway and heard a sudden woosh sound and saw white smoke come out exhaust for about 8 to 10 seconds. Found few small black drips under car. Radiator ok. Oil level ok, trans fluid level ok. A/C seems to not be cooling and was noisy when on prior to this. Any ideas? Is car safe to drive? Should I tow it 50 miles home?

SOURCE: my truck blows white smoke

Hello!
There are two differnt reasons for black and white smoke coming from the tail pipe.
Black smoke means fuel runs rich (car getting to much gas). Check fuel pressure/air filter.
In some cases the white smoke means car is burning oil or transmittion fluid. Have tem checked/replaced.
If you can feel a smelly smoke it can be catalytic converter.
In a worsest scenario if car blowing white smoke it can be engine coolant is getting into an engine cylinder from a bad head gasket ,or a warped/cracked head. So you need to keep your eye on coolant level and check your engine for overheat. Also might be good to check your oil for traces of coolant (on a dipstick it would be a milky substance mixture of oil and coolant).
Good Luck

I don't drive a Ford but I drive an International and white smoke on start up means the engine is too cold to properly burn the fuel. Your black oil or soot is unburnt fuel. You should look at your engine's preheat system for a malfunction.

SOURCE: Transmission stopped working and a big puddle of tranny fluid

Is it a Auto or a Manual if auto then check the breather pipe on the side of the box and you might find its the problem But its no good just filling it up as there must be a reason why its blowing out oil as it must be either driven like a racing driver or the pressure in g/box is to high and that could be the forward pump slipping bands.
If Manual then a oil seal is most likely the problem
yes worty doing.. Have a goodday

SOURCE: [2007 ford f550 72000mls. v10 automatic. motor cease

sounds like u had a oil pump go bad

if motor ceased it junk now but with this truck only having 72000 miles on it i would put a new motor in it if you do decide to put new motor in it and plan on doing that kind of towing i highly recomend puting a oil cooler on it and high voulme oil pump if this truck has a factory oil cooler that in the radaitor i recomend u disconnect that one and put a aftermarket cooler on it if u do decide to reuse old oil cooler make sure you blow all the old oil out of cooler because it probley has **** in it from motor seizeing

Thick white smoke that smells like burned rubber comes out the rear of the car continuously, but functions normal.....

could be oil that has built up in the exhaust, check the engine oil and see if its up to the correct level top up if required and keep a check on it, it may also be useing to much fuel if its diesel as excess fuel burnt shows up as white smoke

My car is hard to turn, it makes an awful noise and is smoking, it smells like burnt rubber, if i continue to drive it what will happen

Hi Debbie,
Not sure with out looking at it, But from what you posted if hard to turn
sounds like your power steering punp aint working , ant if smoking and smells like burnt rubber sounds like pumps locked up, (pully not turning) and if so continuing to drive it could leave you on side of road if it runs a cerpintine belt , that kind of belt runs every thing and if breaks water pump stops flowing water motor will over heat, you should realy have someone look at that for you.

When i turn the wheel my car makes a loud noise and smokes, it smells like burnt rubber, is it safe to drive it

Sounds like the power steering pump is locking up and the belt is slipping. Get it checked out before you drive it.

2001ford escape burning rubber smell and noise

Check the rear upper strut towers. These are notorious for rusting out, and causing the tire to hit the inner fender well. To my knowledge, no recall on this, but I've fixed a few with a rear quarter panel replacement from rock auto. You wouldn't notice it much on the rear of the vehicle. Smell the rear fender wells for burnt rubber odor.

2001 ford escape has horrible rubber smell and bad noise

Remove the drive belt on the alternator and see if you can spin the pulley freely. Check for bearing noise or knocks in the alternator . If it is hard to turn then replace the alternator . While the belt is off check all other units and pulleys to see if they turn freely. Now check the drive belt and smell it If it smells of burnt rubber then replace it as it is what the smell is all about.

What caused white smoke from exhaust?

Generally, white smoke is engine coolant burning. If it only happened for a few seconds, you may have leaked some on the exhaust pipes.
I would check the engine oil and coolant levels with the engine cold, and then look for coolant leaks.

Noisey and recently smells like rubber. maybe a/c

You may have a frozen bearing on the tensioner or belt idler. This will cause the belt to burn and smell. I think you are on the right track. I would remove the belt and spin the idler and adjuster by hand to see that they are free and don't have excessive play in them. Replace as necessary.

2003 Ford Winstar alarm goes off randomly. Increasing in frequency as time goes on. Often at night when all are asleep. Could it be a weak remote battery causing the problem?

Most likely it is a switch on the van. Check the hood switch near the battery . The rubber cover comes off and causes the switch to set the alarm. Good luck.

A smell of burning rubber is coming from my engine. What is it? Could it be the timing belt? Is it safe to drive any distance? Thanks I have a burning rubber smell in my Subaru 2003 Outback, - any...

Check serpentine belt, the radidator hose , the air conditioner compressor and also the differential seal they common cause for rubber smell.

Check for any rubber part that can be in contact with exhaust system and inspect wirings looking for shorts.

Also ensure that the smell is not coming from a bad tyre, and check for oil leaks in your engine, burnt oil can be confused with rubbere smell.
