Fuel injection problems with my 1990 geo storm

Sometimes the car will idle real high, or the idle will fluctuate, then it idles back down to normal. I have replaced everything to do with the fuel system , IAC,MAP, O2 sensor, TSP, PCV, ECM, then I replaced the thermostat and sending unit, thinking it might be sending false signals to the ECM. It seems like when I do change things it fixes the problem for a day maybe two. I have also checked for vacume leaks over and over. I only run chevron gas and add injector cleaners. I just gave it a good tune up, new wires, plugs, cap and rotor. To say the least I am frustrated, thje other day a guy with a storm stopped me and asked if I have had problem with the idle? Described the same symtems.

Did you unplug the battery or do a reset to the ECM for each part changed? I read that this is VERY important in the Haynes manual so the ECM will not be giving the old signals to the new part which can cause irratic behavior.

I have a 93 geo storm wit high idle when cranked an even while running fo to slow down again wit the idle high what do i do?

i cant understand that but got BAD idle.
there are different idle speeds, for hot ,warm and cold engine.
and the PCM (ECU) regulates idle with valve called ISC.
bad idle can be 1 of 2 things.
ISC sticking.
or engine runs so bad the ECU can NOT control idle.

clean the ISC, if not that
then its a big job, to find true cause. ASK !
one is finding air leaks.aka, vacuum leaks.

1990 full size blazer starts fine idles then dies

sounds real easy either a bad idle air control solenoid or more likley a blown throttle body gasket. to test fro a blown gasket, with engine running and cool spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner around base of tb were it bolts to intake. when it hits the bad area, should idle down and be normal for a second or 2. iac is possible, try this first since its so common and let me know

1991 geo storm stalling at idle

maybe try replaceing the ingnition modual. that part can do a lot of weird things to these cars. its located inside the distributor cap, really easy to do. about $40 and 10 mins or less. sometimes as they start to fail they do odd things sometimes but not always

Idling too high, doesn't kick down at all

check for vacume line leaks first then intake manifold leaks

Fluctuating idle.

Could be a fuel injection problem or a bad IAC.

Warm up

The high idle is caused by the choke and the high idle on the carb. It is working normal and you do won't to warm up this motor before going. When it is warm and you hit the gas it activates the choke pull off to bring the idle to normal. Your mechanic is used to fuel injection that will control the fuel/air mix according to temp. I still let my injected cars warm up so the oil can thin a little. If you jump on the highway with cold thick oil it can all wind up in the to of the motor.
