Safety catch on hood wont release and hood wont re latch!

I would check to see if the hood release moves when the inside lever is pulled then pushed, if not the cable and latch mechanism may need lubrication or be broken.

How can i open a hood laych that want let the hood cloes

Quite often the hood latch will not release for one of two reasons. Firstly, the latch is gummed up with old grease, and secondly the cable is kinked and does not release the latch. I is also possible that the latch is damaged, possibly at one time the hood was forced down at a slight angle which could damage the latch.
First, check the cable. Unhook the cable from the latch by pressing the latch back as far as possible with a tool and unhooking the cable. Let an assistant pull the hood release inside the vehicle and feel if the cable moves in freely and you can easily pull it back by hand. If not, replace the cable. Do NOT close the hood while you have the cable out!
Next, check the latch for free movement. If ally is well the only other problem is the bullet hook on the hood itself which may be either loose or adjusted in too far,

Hood release, cable from inside the car hood wont open

while trying to use the lever on the inside, have a helper try and pull up on the hood at the same time. ( might need to push down and then pull up on hood while pulling lever ).

How do you install a hood release cable in a 1999 300m

piece of cake for me, probably hell for you but here goes, open the hood, Disconnect the cable from the latch wich is located on your hood, then dislocate the other side of the cable from inside the vehicle (under the steering column, left side it should say hood release on the handle). Once this is acomplished look at the grommet openinig where the cable actually goes through the firewall, you must now determin if the cable can slide through easily, I usually attach the new cable to the old cable with electrical tape then I spray the whole cable down with WD-40, then I slide the cable out while pulling the new one in place, remove the tape/oldcable and begin to run the cable exactly like the old one, warning: if you route the cable wrong your cable can bind, which means that your going to close your hood and it wont open up, so you need to run it exactly the same, and when your done dont slam your hood shut. Take a screwdriver and manually lock your hood latch, then pull the handle and make sure it opens easily, if the latch passes the test you should be okay

Hood release cable is broken

Is there any part of the cable inside the cabin that you can pull with a pair of pliers? I suggest that you try that. You may need to disassemble it from the pull handle to make that work.

My 1993 toyota pickup's hood release wont open the hood. The cable still has tension on it but the inside release is loose & flops up & down.Any suggestions.Thank you!

Stretched or frayed cable, or possible mechanism seized or broken. Try looking up under hood in latch area, as someone pulls cable lever inside, & watch what happens. You may see a piece getting pulled , and be able to get to it with a screwdriver to assist it in going further to open the latch. Then inspect cable close for conditions I mentioned above. You may be able to tighten up the slack (adjust) once the hood is up, otherwise a new cable may be necessary. If worse comes to worse, you may have to grab that slack in the cable with a pair of vise grips & give a little more pull to get it unlatched. Make sure you lube the mechanism under hood too.

The hood release is broken on my 95 buick century and i ant open the hood any more even using plyers to pull the wires im sure i need to replace it or somthing but dont even know how to go about that if...

I think you should be able to get your hood open if you can get your hand up to it, I think that you can actually trigger the latch at the actual cable connection lever to get it open. Replacing the cable is a piece of cake. Remove the old on inside and remove your latch and disconnect the cable from it just goes in a groove, pull your old on out but attach a long piece of soft wire pull the cable out from inside the car. You may have to help to get it through the fire wall. after you remove it, attach the wire that you pulled through and tie it securely to the new cable, have some one help you and slowly work the cable back through and route it back the same way the old one was, reconnect to our latch and install latch exactly in the same place it was when you removed it, you should be able to tell by where the old bolts had been . Hope this helps you! God Bless, and Merry Christmas!
