I replaced a v-tec engine in a 94 accord over the winter. now i have no spark. The coil checks good with 12v to the igniter. I replaced the igniter and still have no spark. I don't know what else to try? I originally wired the cap for a dl or xl. The rotor and cap are new also. Is my problem with the computer or distributor? chiltons manual no help.

I have replaced the engine control module(igniter), rotor and distributor cap. I have 12v to coil and ecm. This is a v-tec engine. What else could cause no spark? its not the plugs or wires.

There is a relay mounted way up under the dash on the driver side. It is about 1"x1"x2" and it says Mitsuba on it. This is the PGMFI relay, sometimes called the main relay or fuel injection relay. It is very likely the problem. You can buy another one, or there was a bulletin on how to repair it. You need to take it out, pop the cover off, and resolder the cracked solder joints on the pc board that the relays are mounted on. Really not that hard if you have a little soldering experience. If not, just buy another one, about 50 bucks.1991 honda accord

The cracks are very very difficult to see, resolder or replace, especially if you already have it out, that's the hardest part. Other than that, there is at least one pick-up in the distributor and they can be a problem. If you can maybe borrow a distributor to try? Sometimes auto wreckers will let you try one.

The relay controls fuel and spark, all the sensors, cam, crank, are inside the distributor.

Why does 99 honda cive ex have no ignition spark?

There is no definitive test for it the ICM, or igniter. If you are positive that the coil is good and it has power at the black/yellow wire, confirm that it is hot at the igniter. Make sure all 4 connecters on the igniter are tight, they should not pull off easily. With the cap off, you should check for spark directly from the coil to ground. Rotors fail too. If everything checks out, and still no spark, the next step is replacing the igniter. Check prices at Honda, sometimes they are the same or cheaper than aftermarket.

Not getting any spark out of my plug wires already replaced coil, main relay, and ignition module. could it bemy rotar or distrbut

The Honda system uses a coil that mounts inside the dist, right ?
If you can check voltage output at the coil tower with the cap off you can find out if the coil is firing. If it is, then yes the rotor could be the problem. The voltage has to go thru the cap to the center of the rotor then to each plug terminal. The spark can jump thru the rotor and ground thru the dist shaft.

1991 Honda crx won't start

Try tracing the wires and looking for a worn spot in insulation that is grounding out, its a royal pain but might be the only solution, use wire prob and test areas where inaccessible. good luck

MY HONDA DIED ON THE ROAD AND IT TURNS OVER BUT NO SPARK TO THE ENGINE... MY MECH IS HAVING A HARD TIME LOCATING THE PROBLEM...

Needs to check and make sure timing belt is not broken, if that checks good, more then likely it's going to be the ignition control module, sit in the distributor, also have him ohm ignition coil. but more then likely if timing belt is good, ignition module.

1992 Honda Accord LX won't start - ignition problems

I would remove the distributor cap and crank the engine over . If the rotor does not turn , then you need to replace the timing belt. The timing belt needs to be replaced every 60 K. If the rotor turns then make sure you have spark to a spark plug. Run a compression test on each cylinder. The basics to run are compression, spark, fuel and timing.
