VW Polo 2001 - Electric Windows wont open from Drivers side..

Passenger window will open and close from Passenger door switch and when open it can be closed by Drivers door switch BUT the drivers door switch will not open either window... I have Haynes manual but the wiring diagram just shows an electronic control unit. Can anyone advise what is in the unit OR where I can get a complete wiring diagram ??. Also where are the Control units located ??
The system does'nt seem to recognise a VW Polo !!! so I've listed this query under GOLF.

I have a polo gti 2001, the drivers side switch for the driver side window no longer works, it used the be a bit flaky with several attempts to get it to move the window but now nothing. It is a double switch, the other operates the passenger window and that is getting a bit dodgy. The passenger switch on the passenger side still seems to work fine although it doesn't get much use...

Problem solved on my Polo 2001 --- I was simply a broken wire in the wiring loom that goes from door (via hinge area) to car..

I repaired the wire and everything works OK...

All OK now... Problem was a broken wire where wiring passes through door hinge area.

I removed all 3 switches from driver and passenger door, which is really easy with a flat head screw driver. took them completely apart, very carefully, with a small screwdriver out of a christmas cracker. put them back together again and 2 switches started working, so I put 1 in the drivers side and 1 in the passengers side so now my drivers door window opens and I lean over to open the passenger door. cool, no money spent...yet ;o)

The drivers door window switch probably needs replacing. The control units are built into the window motors.Best of luck.

2001 volkswagon cabrio power windows on driver side wont go up and passenger window wont go down, stopped working all at the same time

The Cabrio electric window issues are most often related to a bad Window regulator. My wife owns a 2002 Cabrio, that had a mis-behaving drivers window. After inspecting it, I found one of the cable roller guides was broken, causing the cable to snag when using the window open / close. I had a local garage order the regulator for me, and then I disassembled the drivers door and installed the new regulator (problem is now solved). Additionally, her passenger window stopped working, however, if you listened carefully, you could here a click sound when the button was pushed. I took this door apart as well, removing the regulator, I found it was jammed. Carefully, I removed the cover concealing where the cable rolls up, and was able to free the pressure. Once this was done, the window worked fine.

My electric windows on the front passenger, rear passenger and rear drivers side will not go close. The front drivers side works ok. What is wrong?

on the drivers door switch panel you have a switch to isolate the other window switches,(1.1/2" wide with a white or black spot on it)
have you checked it is on???

I cannot raise my passenger electric window in my Polo hatchback

Carefully remove the window switch, open it and spray electrical contact cleaner on contacts. Try it now. You may need to remove door panel and lubricate guides and tracks for window. Let me know.

All of a sudden the driver side window will not roll up.

is it electric windows? if it has electric windows does the passenger window roll up using the switch for it on the passenger door panel? if it works on the passenger door panel and not on the driver's door panel , then your switch on the drivers door panel is bad... replace it.

92 F150 power window and locks

try taking apart and cleanig all contacts first. make sure you are getting power to switch. Sounds more switches are going bad. They usually last about 5 to 7 years before they start going out.
