Instrument panel not operating

I had a olds Alero 1999 that the speedometer stuck all the way clockwise. I took the instrument panel out and the lens cover. Don't remember if just by removing it it auto went back to zero or I just moved it slightly and it jumped back but it worked. Try it

SPEEDOMETER TROUBLESHOOTING

Can be loose speedo wiring connectors under instrument panel or its issue with speed sensor on transmission.

LOOK FOR THE LITES ON THE PANEL TO FLASH OR FADE OFF AND ON, IF SO,THE INSTRUMENT PANEL MAY HAVE A POOR GROUND..

Replace the gage cluster you should be able to find a cheap one on craigslist or ebay if not the salvage yard should have one.

Check your fuse in I/P fuse panel #3 5amp fuse for dash lights, also make sure dont have them off by dimmer switch

It would appear that you have either lost a main chassis ground to the firewall or to your instrument cluster. If your brakes don't feel any different than this is most likely the cause of your problem. To find where the ground loss is, all you've got to do is wiggle wires under your dash near the rear of the instrument panel and under the hood near the firewall. Have someone watching the warning lights during the process and they can inform you of any changes. Thank you, Dana

speed odo is blank and o/d flashes and abs and brake light is on

check your operators manual under fuses and find the one for the instrument cluster,it may also feed the cruise.

check the relays in the fuse panel

The "door is locked" switch mechanism in the driver's door is not engaging when the door is closed. It is inside the door panel and right on the latch. It closes a circuot when the door is latched.

I was able to tighten the mounting on mine with some twist-wire and been right as rain for 3, 4 years now
