As far as the engine overheating, I have had the same problem and it was either a leak in one of my hoses or a leak in my radiator causing a majortiy of my radiator fluid to leak out it was because my fan was not turning. First check you fluid levels in your radiator and in the reserve. If one or both is low you may have a leak (you should just be able to look at the reserve and if it is low or empty it could be because there is a leak and it is compensating by draining into your radiator) (also if and when you take the cap off the radiator make sure you truck is 100% cold or it could burst out like a geyser and burn you severly). If neither is low you will have you start your jeep and let it idle until it gets to the normal operating temp (Just below the center dash on your gauge) and once there check for any dripping underneath the front and if you see any just try to follow it to the source (this is helpful to find a leak if that is the problem just fill it up with fluid and try it). Also make sure your radiator fan is on. When the jeep is at normal operating temp it should automatically kick on and if not it could be the sensor or in my case it was the fan motor. If the fan is not spinning it could also be because you are not getting power. I cut the positive wire and connected it directly to the battery to test it. A third problem I had was a leak in from my water pump which will be on the front of the engine just below the pulleys that your belt runs around. I have been able to fix all three problems myself (including replacing the radiator entirely) myself with absolutely no experience so its not that dfficult. I know I have listed alot of possibilities but all were a source for overheating problems I have had with my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Just start with one and work your way through. Good luck and I hope I helped.
two problems are unrelated. the overheating can be caused by a lack of electric radiator fan operation. the morining problem can be caused by a dirty throttle body
check them both out and let me know
cooling fan fuse should be third up from bottom on right on cabin fuse block. there may be another in power distribution center under the hood. Not sure if you mean radiator fan. to check, first hot-wire fan to battery. if it runs check fuse and relay. Radiator fan operates like this: coolant sensor sends signal to computer that sends ground signal to fan relay that then completes power circuit to fan. Difference in cabin fan is that the dash control sends signal to relay, then to resistor bloc, to fan motor. All electrical components require power and a good ground to operate properly.
replace your cooling fan motor relay because if you dont eventually your radiator will explode and this will cause your engine block to crack and then if your fan isn't blowing the engine will continue to overheat and the engine will seize and then you need a new engine. A cooling fan motor relay is around $30.
Everyone keeps ignoring clutch fan on water pump. If it does not lock up when engine is hot, only the electric fan will be operating. With the undersized radiator used on Jeeps, it will cause overheating!!!
