Where can we locate the engine number of hyundai sonata model 99

There are three different engines on the Sonata, but they are always on the flat part of the block, back and front.

Here's a picture to your cylinders,number one cylinder is at that side exhaust manifold,the sensor is screwed into it. Specifications Firing Order AutoZone com

this model not shown in my bible but its weird aS SONATA and elantra at opposte ends of engine ,all number at the top of the block under the head gasket level though if thats a help ,engine number will be last 5 numbers of the chassis number

My online Sonata manual shows these possibilities, but does not identify which applies specifically to 2000 Sonata.
Also, when you talk to the dealership parts counter, you'll need to know whether your 2000 Sonata is (a) 4-cylinder 2.4L MFI DOHC engine, or (b) 6-cylinder 2.5L MFI DOHC engine.
Its easy to tell - just count your spark plug wires.

I did some checking and found that there is little to no info available,the only mention was that the internal filter is not user serviceable.Autozone sells a screw on external filter for your year and model but they don't show the location,try checking the trans oil cooler for the screw on filter.

did you check the front passenger door. the no. on my Hyundai Matrix is located inside the f ron passenger door right on the top right corner. its worth a try
