Clockspring? Is the airbag light on?

The clockspring is the electrical connection between the steering column and the steering wheel. It allows the connection for the cruise switches and the horn and airbag to work when you turn the steering wheel. It sounds like it's bad. I would test the horn first. See if you have ground at the horn relay when you press the horn button.

So if my horn works but my cruise control doesn't what does that mean? Also, my airbag light keeps staying on so should I just replace the clockspring?

I would have the vehicle scanned. If the clockspring is bad you will have a code in the airbag module for the drivers firing circuit. The cruise might be the clockspring. But with dakota it is common to have a bad speed sensor. Do you have an ABS light on too or an inoperative speedometer? Also the speed sensor would flag a code too if it is defective.

CRUISE CONTROL QUIT

There should be a Cruise Control relay too. Find one thats the same and switch them out, like the horn relay. If the Cruise starts working then you have a bad relay.

My cruise control just quit working on a 2006 Dakota. Is there a fuse not labeled in the fuse box that could have blown?

I have a 2006 Dakota V8 4.7L
My cruise control quit working, but no issues with the horn. This all happened after the EGR valve was replaced. Could that have anything to do with it?? Any suggestions??

Thecrusie control and horn do not work, along

check under the hood in the fuse/relay box for a blown fuse or relay. also there is another fuse panel under the dash next to the steering column. when u take the cover off the fuse/relay box under the hood look inside the lid and it will tell u which fuse/relay controls the cruise/horn/etc. hope this will help you!!!!

Horn and cruise control dont work, what to do?

You will have to replace the entire clockspring. I highly recommend having it done at a repair shop because it involves removing the air bag which contains a small explosive device and can be dangerous to someone not trained in removing it.

Horn and cruise control dont work, what to do?

It is wires wound around in a circle within a plastic housing called a clockspring. The clockspring lives behind the steering wheel and connects your horn, cruise and most importantly the airbag. Usually it is the airbag that is first to quit with a light on the dash coming on.
