1991 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 high output. Won't start.

Most likely you have a bad connection somewhere. Trace the battery cables and clean/tighten all terminals or try jumping to a different lug. You might also try removing the starter and jumping directly to the starter to verify that it is good.

the first grand cherokee laredo was in 1992 . it was all jeep sports back then, the blocks are all the same .you will need to use some of the sensors from the old motor, the distributor and oil sending unit and temp sensor. will be no problem. if I can put a ford ranger motor in a mercury sable your swap is easier

When you remove the battery from the charging circuit, the alternator voltage output jumps to a high level, and this probably fried the computer and possibly other electronic components.

Running for five minutes sounds like something other than a security system problem (usually shuts off much earlier) but if that has been compromised it needs to be put back together or the trigger wire from the drivers door lock needs to be grounded.
I'd look to the throttle position sensor, map sensor, crank position sensor or the ballast resistor on the drivers fender. You need to do tests on those items as all influence the fuel management system after warm up. Test when it is cold and after it shuts off so you don't mistake a part malfunction only when hot. Hands on testing is the ONLY way to determine accurately exactly what is happening there. Anything else is an educated guess!!!

get the battery checked to see if you may need a new battery

try aviation gasket maker / messy but stops leaks .make sure you have all surfaces clean no debris stuck on them and the right thermostat that fits and the proper gaskets or o ring and a little avaition gasket glue should cure the problem . leaks require patience :) gl

Sounds like the starter decided to quit on you. Replace it and things will be better.

check to see if your starter has power. before trying to start, then with key on then while attempting to start
on the remote situation they are like $50 at the dealer and they program them for free
