Oil drain plug location, 2008 GMC Sierra 1500, 5.3L V8

Maybe I'm going blind but I didn't see an oil drain plug. Where is it located or does removing the oil filter drain the crankcase?
Thanks

I've got the same problem. I just went to see where it was (so I can change the oil in the morning).. and I don't see a drain plug anywhere. I'm sure it's right in front of me!

SOURCE: 2000 gmc sierra 1500 5.3 v8. a/c heater control problem

your heat/cool and vent selection options are controlled by engine vacuum through small clear tubes attached to the rear of your climate control interface. Other vehicles have small steel pull wires that operate the desired changes. You might try removing the trim and any fasteners affiliated with the interface/console. GENTLY pull outward and look to see if any of these tubes are pulled off or cut/damaged. Did anyone recently install a new stereo in the vehicle? If so, the vacuum tubing and or pull wires that change your outlets could have been damaged when the stereo unit was pushed into place. Hope this helps

SOURCE: in-the-tank fuel pump r&r

Here are instructions for replacment with a diagram of the fuel pump components my only suggestion would be instead of draining the tank and dropping the fuel tank if you unbolt the box and using a jack and and some wood lift the fuel tank side of the box this will give you access to the tank and fuel pump/ sending unit. It will save you time and the hastle of replacing the tank straps which are prone to snapping at the threads when trying to remove the nuts.If these brake you will have to replace them.

SOURCE: hi...2008 gmc sierra crew...check engine light

Sounds like an oil pressure problem. The clacking sound is most likely the lifters are collapsing due to loss of oil pressure. You may have a failing oil pump.

I have a gmc Sierra 2008 and I can't find the oil drain plug to change my oil where is it?

The oil plug will be located on your oil pan. If you checked ther are you sure you checked all areas? I have never seen one anywhere else. Especially on an american made vehicle. I don't know your experience level but the oil pan is located just in front of the transmission under the engine. I hope that helps you find it.

Where is the oil level sensor located? oil guage wiggles between 40 & 60 at idle and stays on 60 on the road.

That's not oil level you see on the gauge -- that is oil pressure in pounds per square inch (PSI). It is normal for the pressure to fluctuate when the engine RPM goes down. If it stays on 60 PSI on the road, you are very lucky -- that is excellent oil pressure!
