The OD light is "on", because somehow, someone has accidentallyturned the OverDrive switch to the "Off" position. This switch is located on the transmission shift lever. When the button is "in", the overdrive is engaged; this is where the switch is supposed to be, to give you maximum fuel mileage. When the button is "in", the light is turned off. When the button is "out", the OD is dis-engaged, and the light on the dash illuminates to indicate to you that the OD is "off". Unless the OD light is blinking rapidly, you have NO transmission issues.
It means you have a problem developing with the transmission and I know that the owners manual says to take the vehicle to the dealership. That's about all I know FOR SURE.

The transmission has a problem, the flashing light means the computer has detected something wrong. ... The transmission has a problem, the flashing light means the computer has detected something wrong.
That is a check engine light and it means that the computer has detected something wrong. Go to an autoparts store and have them read the computer codes to see what is wrong.
Do you mean 2006 GMC Envoy? Top left- car with squiggly tire tracks and a wrench- that means something is wrong with your Stabilitrak (traction control) system. Top right- triangle around the car with squiggly tire tracks- this light comes on when the light on the top left comes on. It also means something is wrong with the Stabilitrak system. Bottom left- Antilock Brake System warning light- This means there is a fault in the antilock brake system. Considering that the stabilitrak control is part of the antilock brake system, it looks like there may be a common problem affecting both systems. You need to use a scan tool to access the chassis control system and read the diagnostic codes. There are definitely Diagnostic Trouble Codes stored when these lights are on. The code does not tell you what part to replace, but rather gives you a direction to go in diagnosing the cause of the problem.
The maintenance required light just means that some sort of scheduled maintenance needs to be done. Most of the time it just means you need an oil/filter change. Your owner's manual will list what maintenance is required based on your milage. This light is not the same as the Check Engine light which means that something is wrong with the emissions system.
Hi, has the weather just turned colder? The Beetle has a blue warning light to tell you that the engine temperature is low. Meaning drive the car at lower speeds/revs until it's warmed up and the light go's out. Hope that helps, Matt.
the service engine light means that the computer has detected that there is something wrong. it doesn't mean that it is anything serious. it could be something very simple. if you want to find out what it is exactly and avoid repair shop costs, take it to auto zone or another parts store. most of them have scanners that they will hook up and tell you why the light is on without charge.
The service light means something is wrong with the car and it needs attention now. Get the codes checked and that will tell you what is wrong with it.
There is something wrong, they may not have had the correct equipment for your car. Even if they had the right scanner and it said nothing....means there is something wrong if the light is on. The computer doesn't put that light on for fun. I would try somewhere else, a lot of auto parts stores will check it for free.
