Reduce engine power came on and the ac went out

  • Marpy Pincan Feb 11, 2019

I believe their was a recall on some of these vehicles due to reduced power under certain conditions. Check with dealer. I bought a new one and got a letter in the mail about the recall.

SOURCE: reduced engine power

hi there my name is don i will try to help you on this
when your reduced engine light comes on that means there is a active fault code in one of the sensors that is cusing this
you will have to get it scanned or retreive the codes from the dash

once you shut it off and turn it back on it temporarly resets until the diagnostics go through it again and it will reduce the power to the engine
it could be something simple like a gas cap or tire pressure but you will have to get it scanned to find out
thanks
don

Reduced engine power

Disconnect your idle control valve and see if there is a difference at start-up. This valve will demand more power such as the time the AC is turned on, and also at start-up..

What causes dash say reduce engine power

You need to have fault scan to identify what sensor triggered light. Reduced Engine power is telling you that it's in LIMP mode.

What does reduced engine power light mean and have no acceleration. Turned truck off and reduced engine power went out and everything is ok again; however afraid to drive the truck anywhere now. 2004 GMC...

this model has what they call fly by wire.. no accelerator cable. If the computer detects a problem in the thottle system it will not allow the engine to accelerate and will show reduced power and possibly set a check engine light. The dealer usually wants to replace the throttle assembly which is very expensive and usually un nessesary.
I have had a lot of succes with just cleaning the throttle plates real good.

DO A LITTLE TUNE UP.CHANGE FUEL FILTER * AIR FILTER * SPARK PLUG * WIRES *CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS.CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID.MOST TIME YOU RUN AC IN CAR YOUR ENGINE HAS TO BE WELL TUNED.BECAUSE THE AC WILL TAKE SOME POWER FROM ENGINE.

2005 suburban stabilatrac disabled

The Reduce Engine Power problem on my 03 Suburban went away when I had to replace the fuel mixing sensor. I damaged the sensor by topping off with E85 (ethanol) by mistake late at night. The vehicle just would not turn on in the morning. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. I was in Carlsbad NM about 800 miles from home. I had no choice but to pay $1,100 to get it fixed. At the same time the Reduce Engine Power problem went away. And thanks to God it has not come back for nine 9 months now.
