1994 Lincoln Town Car, Signatures Series, V8, 4.6L When starting the car, it will randomly (Seldom, in fact) not start properly, the starter goes, but the fuel pump does not. If left idle for a short while, and started again, it will start and run perfectly. Could it be a problem that has to do with Oil Pressure or Anti-theft System? -Fuel Pump has been replaced. -Fuel Filter has been replaced. -Fuel Pump Relay has been replaced.

check the emergency safety switch for the fuel pump. should be located on the L side of the trunk side panel

This sounds like the PCM has taken a turn for the worst. The pcm relay sends power to the fuel relay for 2 seconds to prime the fuel system just before start up.
Then the pcm ungrouds the signal for a prove out.

possible just not probable. you need to see if there is any pressure to fuel rail. if not youre going to have to by pass the fuel pump and see if it is getting voltage. if so then apply a seperate voltage and ground wire to the pump to see if it kicks on. come to think of it, it could be the PATS system(security) that shuts down the system. it will crank but will not fire. your ford dealer will need to reprogram the system.
SOURCE: 98 lincoln town car won't start. fuel pump
the enginr oil pressure switch runs the fuel pump till the oil pressure is up to the normal operating range. When the pressure is up the relay kicks in and takes over the power to the pump. The oil pressure switch my be at fault if you can no hear the pump running when you turn the key on

yes the teft light will stop the vehicle from running. that is the pats system and can cause all sorts of trouble. if the light flashes fast its not reading the key. no start. if it turns on for two seconds and shuts off the it should start
