I have a 2005 equinox it was overheating about every 3 miles I put a new thermostat in it still did it replaced hoses flushed radiator and block still did it put a new water pump in still did it everybody was saying it's the head gasket but it was not that then on some of the forums said needs a new engine but that's not it. This is what you need to do it sounds crazy but try it a little hose on the top of the reservoir that go's down to the thermostat unhook it at the reservoir hold it up in the air and pour coolant into the hose this will push the air out of the block and it will bubble up in the reservoir when it stops bubbling you got the air out then put back together and drive I did it and so for no more overheating I hope this helps bit if you do not do this it will keep vapor locking about every 3-5 miles

2006 chevy equinox over heating. Replaced temp sensor, thermostat, cooling fans, flushed system. I have no idea how to check radiator myself instead of money flying out the window. What's the problem?

Get the engine warm and put the interia heater on hot, with the engine idling are the heaters hot ? If not or they get warm by reving the engine id be looking at the water pump

2005 chevy equinox. The needle on the temp gauge is normally steady but from time to time swings back and forth from hot to cold and then normal, it also shows a code of p1245. What could be wrong??

The code P1245 is for the Intake Plenum Switchover Valve.

This probably has nothing to do with the gauge fluctuations. The gauge problem is probably one of three possibilities:

  1. Low coolant level in the system. When coolant levels get low, air moves thru the system and when it reaches the temp sensor, will cause fluctuations.
  2. Defective coolant sensor. These can fail over time as do all sensors.
  3. Defective gauge in the dashboard.

Engine hot turn ac off. heat gauge flatten out 160 fans stay on.

On my 2008 Chevy pickup, the temp gauge would show normal temp and all if a sudden would drop out down to 160 on dash. When this happened, the panel would show ENGINE HOT, AC OFF. I had this problem for months. To reset it, I would have to pull over, take the battery cable off to reset the panel. I finally did some research and found out that the thermostat was the problem! When you replace the thermostat, make sure you get one that is set at 195 degrees cause there are different set points and if it doesn't make temp, the computer automatically takes over to prevent engine damage. I went to Autozone and bought a Failsafe 195 temp thermostat and my truck hasn't had a problem since!

2007 equinox fan stay on

You maybe low on coolant. Also have the computer codes checked. Many auto supply places do this for free.

My 05 equinox keeps over heating. We replaced the thermostat. The car will run then the temp gauge goes up. When I drive it the temp gauge goes up then after driving like 2 miles it goes down then back up...

If you are positive there is no air in the cooling system and it is full of coolant, I would look for a blockage in the system or a faulty water pump.

Car keep over-heating on a 2005 chevy equinox

Assuming that you already checked for the engine oil and the radiator coolant level, and if they are ok, then open the hood of your car and start your engine, then go to the front of your car and watch out for the fans, they are gonna be off when you start your car, but keep looking at them they should activate when the engine is hot enough. They should activate just before your water temperature gauge (instrument pannel) reach half of the way. If the temperature gauge goes beyond that (overheating) and the fan hasn't activated yet then two things can be wrong your water thermostat (makes the fans activate when your car reaches aproximately 90°C) or your fans could be burned. I hope that helps

Cooling temp sensor

Should be located on the lower intake on right or left toward the front. Two wires watch cause there's and air temp that might look the same.

Cooling fan problem

The electric fans on some vehicles dont stay on all the time. If the radiator is not burningyou then i would suspect the guage is bad. The engine would throw a code if the fan was not working properly, so im pretty sure that your fan is working properly. I hope that helps you out.
