93 accord shuts everything off when I turn key from on to start

All of a sudden the other night, I get back in my car, dash lights came on as normal, and then turned key to start and everything went blank. Battery seems good, cause none of the lights were dim or anything, and fan blew normally.  Thought it was the starter, replaced that and still same problem. Sometimes no dash lights even come on for a while until i let it set for a while and then it repeats first sentence.

Good suggestion.  I started looking at the battery terminals, and for fun I cleaned them and tightened them up. Started right up. My starter tested bad at Pep Boys so I guess it was two problems at once. Thanks silver top.

if you have access to jump leads ? try this ? connect the negative/black j/lead to degative battery terminal and then the other end to a good earthing point on the actual engine then try start? if engine starts? you may have a fault with the battery earth lead from batt to engine and body ? come back with any update ?

06 Malibu LT Dash lights shut off

hi, gm vech. are elec.complex with logic that is all there own. im a retired ford tech, and gm would drive me crazy sometimes. now some ideas, your dash light are controlled with an ecm, keep in mind, your dashlights and tail lights are on the same circut. i would check your batt. cables, if your ground cable has a high resistance it could cause issues. in fords they had bad dimmer switches that would cause the same issue. if you have someone with an obd2scanner it might have a code.hope that helps.

06 Colbalt Electrical System Dead

I would go to the positive terminal on the battery anjd check for black hard build up on the post and inside the terminal. This is lead sulphate and cause a high resistance to any high current flow. Clean both with sand paper until shiny and refit and tension properly. Do the negative also as it will have build up but to a lesser degree. If the battery lead runs through a connection box Check for tight connections there also. As to towing most towers have a wheel rack that fits under the tyres and lifts them clear of the road so it can be taken to to a shop.

93 silverado ignition problem

Sounds like the switch is toast. I would check for voltage at the switch connector. Could have also damaged the connector between the lock cylinder and the switch.

I have a 1998 honda accord ex 4 cyl .it shut off while i was driving. Its not getting any fire.I changed the disribator and still no fire.everything worksits getting gas.it just will not start

Does the engine sound like its turning over faster than it normally does?

When you turn the key on do all the dash light come on as they normally do?

Is there an anti-theft light on or blinking?

With the distributor cap removed, crank the engine and see if the rotor turns in the distributor. If it doesn't check to see if the timing belt is broken.

If it does turn check for power on the black with yellow wire in the distributor. If there is no power check fuse 11 in the fuse panel under the drivers side of the dash.

Let me know how that pans out. If you have any questions let me know.

Whole Electrical system shuts down when ignition key turned

Try cleaning the battery connectors at both ends and make sure the ground at the frame is clear of rust. If that check out, drop the starter and have it bench tested
