1986 Toyota pickup 4wd.... Efi 22re... Annoying problems... Started out thinking I had water in my gas.. It sputtered missed and died, wouldn't start back until what seemed to be after it cooled down. Drained 1/2 tank out and limped it home. Got home and drained the remaining gas. Got 1/2 tank and contacted gas station about water in fuel. Thought the problem was obvious(water in fuel).burned the 1/2 tank with no problems. Got full tank after that and it sputters and dies leaving me on side of interstate @ 5:00am ... Truck got towed to mechanic I bought it from... He changed fuel filter under intake... Problem reoccurred on the way to pick truck up from mechanic.. Dropped fuel tank. Bench tested fuel pump( good) tank had rust in it.. Took it to radiator repair shop to get cleaned and coated... Reinstalled and it hasn't died and started the sputtering again... Now it has a rough idle, miss during acceleration, and loss of power... What to do.... Please help

Try another fuel filter. If you have a carburetor, change the filter in it,if fuel injected, clean injectors.

SOURCE: From red light truck started sputtering and and stalled out

Hello. The GMC Sierra has an electric fuel pump so you should ensure that its fuses and relays are working before checking it. You may need to clean your fuel pump or replace it if your gas tank is not empty, but your vehicle has difficulty getting fuel. The GMC Sierra comes in a variety of styles and trim levels that can affect the replacement fuel pump you choose.

What is the factory Idle rpm for 22re efi engine

I've seen from 500 to 1500 RPM in all the manuals I've been through, depending on the year and application (truck/car). In personal experience, 650-800 RPM is acceptable warm operation range. This will also depend on elevation. Will go up to 1200-1500 RPM for cold starting. I live at about 2000ft and my '86 Pickup 22RE idles at 725-750 like a top after about a 3-4 min warm up @ 1250 RPM if it's cold (<45ish).

Where is the fuel filter located on my 86 4wd (22re)

You're going to laugh when you hear this...not! It's under the intake manifold, bolted to the side of the engine block. It's a real pain to do.

It was dying it made a niose like a clapping as i gave it more gas the louder it got and started to go slower. efi 4cy 242,356 miles

I would check http://www.car-parts.com it is a web site that queries salvage yards on line and will sort by price or distance, you can look by the entire US or by state. Page with * next to it shows the lowest price. Hope this helps

FUEL NOT GETTING TO INJECTERS GOES BACK TO RETURN LINE TO TANK

Check to see if the 15 amp EFI fuse is blown.
This fuse controls the ECU and the injection.
