I am trying to figure out what wires to splice into off of the light switch. When I hook up my leads I found two wires that are ''hot'' when everything is off, including the door switch.
Is a connector off of the wiring harness somewhere for this options? My jeep did not have the option of a dome light from the factory.

You need a wire diagram follow ground circuit from door cancel switch and use any fused battery got power wire.
Well one of the hot wires would Goto the door switch and the other wire coming from the door switch would Goto the hot wire on the light so that when you open the door, the switch allows power to Goto the light hot wire. You’ll need to ground the light somewhere and I imagine if the light has a switch that you can switch on without opening the door, the other hot wire would wire into the hot wire on the lights switch. You could hook the hot wire up to the light as well and use the door switch to provide a ground too. Then you hook one side of the door switch up to a ground and the ground of the light up to the other wire coming from the door switch
You will need test light then turn high beam on test which one lights up
Come off the fuse box on a fused circuit that is from a battery wire. Always hot.

Yes it will fit, just make sure you don't get in trouble with the issue of smog certifcation.

If that dosnt match with your vehicle try this tip, 1st always find your speaker wires first,Since this is the most tedious part, its better to get those out of the way, 2nd thing Disconnect the battery of the vehicle so you don't blow fuses for the head unit, 3rd, strip back all of the wires that are available to you. Its better to grab the all together and cut them all an equal length to make it neat. 4th
Once you have all your wires stripped back - Grab any single wire. Hold it against a terminal on the battery and one by one go through and tap every other wire against the other terminal of the battery until you hear a "pop". When you hear a speaker popping, you have correctly identified the wires that run directly to it. You can buy a simple light connector at most auto supply that requires you to splice it into existing wires. Very simple.
There is no remote wire on these newer trucks....03 and up....u have to buy the harness....although i didnt....i have an 03 gmc sierra and just pulled the schematic and matched the wires. And there is no programming to do on an aftermarket stereo.....I work for GMC and we cant program aftermarket stereos......if u buy the right harness ...and its over $100 then everything should work just fine.....and this does not disarm ur alarm system either....mine still works fine....hope this helps
