Hood latch frozen in closed position

1993 Volvo 240 wagon that has been sitting outside for 10 months. I tried to open the hood and it's stuck in the closed position. I've pulled the release from inside the car and it is somewhat frozen. I've tried to access from under the hood and I can't figure out where the releases are. I've tried to wd40 random areas, but the hood won't budge. Are there any ideas of how I can access the latches so that I can open the hood? Thanks in advance for any help to get under the hood. Grill option? Coat hanger ideas? I'm trying anything. The trunk appears frozen locked as well. I can turn the key, but it won't open.

There should be a cable coming from the driver headlamp area and going acroos to the front center of the hood. where the latch is. spray penetrating oil on the latch at the front center of the hood.

here's a typical latch for a ford.

How to open a hood 1993 Buick century cable jam up

Miguel, 1993 Buick century hood cable broke. With a flashlight, you will have to lay under car and reach up where cable runs into latch and pull the latch mechanism/lever to unlatch hood. If not comfortable doing this call a locksmith and they will have it open in seconds. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

My 1989 Volvo 240 gl hood won't open cable doesn't pop hood, what can i do to open it

You have 2 choices. You can try to grab the cable through the grill, cut it then see if the wire can then be pulled to release the hood.
Another option is to go from underneath with big screwdriver to move the latch thus releasing the hood latch. Not sure if you can get access to it on this vehicle easily. try a flashlight and from under the car reach way up into the latch area.

Opened my hood to give a buddy a boost now it wont close for me any tips

No good deed goes unpunished. It sounds like the secondary safety catch is bent and not going into it's opening. Look at where the pointy catches enter the front frame of the car and make sure they line up as you close the hood. If they do line up, it's possible that the catch that springs against the hood pin is frozen or stuck. Spray some penetrating oil into the latch mechanisms at the front frame of the car and also try pushing the release lever inside the car back into the closed position. Sometimes they get stuck in the open position.

My honda odyssey 2002 hood latch stuck it opened the hood and now not closing even droping the hood from difference hight and even pressing it ???

SOUND LIKE YOUR HOOD LATCH IS STUCK IN THE RELEASE POSITION. YOU CAN DO TWO THINGS. REPLACE YOUR HOOD LATCH OR PUSH THE LATCH BACK INTO POSITION MANUALLY EVERYTIME YOU OPEN YOUR HOOD. IT'S EASY. FIRST CHECK YOUR HOOD RELEASE LEVER (DRIVER SIDE KICK PANEL)AND MAKE SURE IT'S MOVING FREELY. IF LEVER IS OK,GO TO YOUR HOOD LATCH. LOOK TO THE RIGHT OF THE LATCH (LOOK DOWN FROM THE TOP VIEW)AND YOU'LL SEE A SMALL METAL BAR WITH A SPRING PULLING DOWN ON IT(MIGHT NEED FLASH LIGHT TO SEE BAR AND SPRING). TAKE A FLATHEAD SCREWDRIVER AND PUSH DOWN ON THE METAL BAR WHERE SPRING CONNECT. THE BAR SURE MOVE ABOUT 1/4 INCH DOWN. CLOSE YOU HOOD AND YOU'RE DONE. YOU JUST HAVE TO PUSH THE BAR DOWN EVERYTIME YOU OPEN IT.

Hood latch is pulled open but hood is stuck closed how do I get the latch to release.

Have one person pull on the latch inside and the other person pull up on the hood (sometimes depending may have to use a thin screwdriver to pry up carefully not to chip the paint). Once open lube the hood latch under the hood with wd-40. Make sure the latch inside is still connected to the wire.

I have a 1992 Volvo 240 Wagon and the hood will open, but it will not shut completely, it looks shut, but when starting to drive, it pops up before flying up to the window, any ideas?I tried WD40 and other...

Three part solution,
1. Lube the hood locks (yes there are two) the one you manuver from the inside (make syre you get the WD40 inside the hole wire and the latch you flipp from the outside when you open the hood.
2. Make sure the return springs for both locks are not broken otherwise no amount of lubing will help.
3. Adjust the lock. Open hood, remove grill losen bolts for the locks slightly, adjust and make sure they engage and release properly, tighten locks again and reassemble.

Hood latch won't release hood. 91 volvo 240.

Have had same problem on 1990 240 DL. Go underneath, tap ball at end of hood latch sideways with small hammer (take a good look at it --- you should be able to see which way it needs to go to clear). Once released clean and lubricate.
